anyone still not celebrate birthdays? holidays? I was wondering about everyone's position about this as I plan to throw a huge make-up birthday party for each of my kids this year.

I celebrated Christmas last year for the first time since 1980, and it felt kind of unnatural to be doing so, but I imagine it will be better this year. I enjoyed celebrating my birthday in April though.

I have celebrated Christmas ever since I married my husband almost 14 years ago. Started by getting a tree. Now we do the tree, presents, make cookies, travel and visit family, go to Christmas service at church, etc. We also celebrate birthdays. This year, for my soon to be 6 year old, I plan on doing a putt-putt party with a 9 hole course. And for my daughter, who is born in the same month as my 5 year old, I plan on doing a carnival party. Wish me luck.

We celebrate most of the holidays, the ones we like the most, which is practically all of them. lol

I actually use my upbringing as an excuse to not celebrate Christmas, because I hate shopping and having to try to find a gift for everyone so nobody feels left out. It's way too much stress and not worth it to me. I still like to do nice things for people, of course (which is why my roommate and I operate a small socialist country out of our living room).

I like making gifts. This year I plan on making my mil a white boa scarf, for my sil - a crochet purple cow, and still trying to think of stuff for my other loved ones. It's fun and people seem to like it better than something you just go and buy.

This isn't easy. This year (about 3 weeks ago) I woke up on my birthday to NO cards, NO presents and NO phone calls. Says a lot. Thing is - being brought up a Dub, real people are conditioned to never acknowledging you.

What a fabulous idea to throw a makeup party!!

I celebrate every holiday there is.....I love 'em all. I even decorate for Memorial Day etc.

I get irrationally upset if I miss one too, like when we have horrible arctic weather every New Year's Eve....I get in a funk. I am still upset that my all my pre-wedding festivities were cancelled by my toxic family members and in-laws, because getting married was the last big event of my life and I've already missed so much. I will never forgive them for that. I feel real grief thinking of all the things I missed out on....not just my special days but those of others in my life. A life devoid of celebration is sad.
