"Now as to the things I am writing You, look! in the sight of God, I am not lying"
Galatians 1:20
2007 Yeartext for Jehovah's Witnesses
Paul knew that there would go out false prophets, and even liars against the redemtive power of his Master Jesus' sacrifice. He set the example for us as Christians to be telling the truth before God and men.
In this area, we have fallen a bit short, and at this momentous time in history, before the eyes of God and man, we wish to clarify a few of those past mistakes. The coming year will see tremendous changes in our religious heritage, as we prepare to enter into the favor of our God by our awareness of our imperfection and the sins we have committed before Him.
This year will see doctrinal changes, as we reverse our positions on blood transfusions, handling of child molesters within the organization, duplicity in ethics at the top of the organization. Significantly, we will begin to honor Christ in ways we have refused to in the past. We will allow, yes encourage, all Christians to partake of the symbolic elements of the Lord's Supper, not withholding the emblems from those we previously assigned to lesser status in their relationship with God and especially Jesus. We are issuing a revised translation of the New World Bible also, one in which we have restored the text in the Greek Scriptures to the original meaning. The spurious insertion of the Divine Name will be removed and replaced with the traditional Lord, as it was in the manuscripts that we intentionally misrepresented at the time of original translation. Those texts that have been altered to assign an organizational postion that was not intended have been reviewed and restored to the original intention of the writers.
Our service to God will change in many ways too. The traditional approach we have adopted to service, having found it to be both ineffective and unscriptural, will be eliminated, and replaced with the more typical Christian approach to witnessing to others about our faith. In the matter of disfellowshipping and disassociation our position has altered to more accurately reflect the love of the Christ. No longer will persons be convicted in star chamber session of three elders, then silenced and shunned until repentence is seen by these human judges. We will replace this thinking with the Law of Love and of the Christ. The structure of the organization will change too, as we will see, with the elder arrangement and the Governing Body arrangement being eliminated and replaced with leadership that more correctly mirrors the first century Christians.
All these changes and more are in the plans for the coming service year. May God and His Christ bless all of us together in Peace.
