While I'd imagine many in the congregation would murmur about it, I'm in agreement with fullofdoubt. It is for the same reason I don't think the elder should be meddling in their lives in the first place that I also don't think it's anyone's business whether he buys the house or not. I suppose it all depends on how or when his interest established itself...
ELDER: Look, you can't do it! You just can't do it! You can't separate, see?!
