The most critical question about the JW and pedophilia?
Mine would be: If Jehovah's Witnesses truly abhor pedophilia why then instruct elders to report only where required by law to do so?
Set the wayback machine to the first century. Imagine Jesus or one of the apostles hearing of a child being brutally raped and yet they do nothing to stop it because they were not legally required to do so.
In my old congregation, an elder's son molested his niece (an elder's daughter). No report was ever made to the police and no "theocratic" punishment was given to the elder's son. In my wife's congregation, an offender was caught and convicted. When he was released, he was welcomed back into that congregation with open arms, so open in fact he was placed in his victim's book study. He also never received "theocratic" punishment.
