I'm wondering, did you cease donating when you ceased to be a true believer or did you not donate even when you believed it was "the truth." During our "true believer" stage, we did donate to help pay for the building and utilities. We weren't wealthy; we gave about $50 a month and reported it as a deduction to the IRS. My husband had been a Lutheran and he saw the need to donate monthly some money to help out.
When we realized the WTS was lying to us, we stopped donating, and eventually just stopped going.

I never believed, so therefore never donated.
I was 'raised' in the 'truth', that being said, I have no doubts that my mom donated regularly.
I had issues with the teachings even at a young age. I recall being around the age of 10 and having a RV decline a bible study, my mother then informed me that the RV would
be killed at armageddon for not attending the kingdumb hall and becoming a witness.
I also watched the way my family(100 + relatives) shunned a family member that DA'd because he and his wife no longer believed in the j-dub religion. I thought it was very cruel
to see formerly close family members turn their back on someone like that. Even as a child it sickened me.
As a child I thought the worldwide genocide that witnesses hope for was ridiculous and therefore never donated. I did make the mistake of getting baptized cuz I was a bit of a
wimp and gave in to peer pressure. But I am proud that I never donated, though I do feel bad that the poor dubs at the hall probably made up for my lack of donations.

Not a whole lot. Their fault too. Maybe if they recommended getting educated so I would have money to donate.......

When I pioneered, I did not contribute anything other then what was given me out in service. My feeling was that I was donating my time and my money (i.e., gas money) and that was more then enough. After I went to work full time, I put in a percent of what I made. So it went up every year. However, I have to say it was not until later in life when I was making enough money to count and I was long out by then.
