Pastor Russell turned the hose on hell and put the fire out. It's been out ever since.
"Their worm dieth not." So, Jehovah's Witnesses will not allow us an eternal soul, but the Bible gives us an eternal worm!
If there is no hell what is this?

Jeremiah 7:31 And they have built the high places of TOPHET, which is in the valley of the sons of Hinnom, TO BURN THEIR SONS AND THEIR DAUGHTERS IN THE FIRE, WHICH I COMMANDED THEM NOT, NEITHER CAME IT INTO MY HEART.
Explain this one.

They were little children not adults that had lived their lives and made a name & reputation for themselves.

In Jeremiah 7:31 god is reprimanding Judah for sacrifising their children (instead of lambs or the traditional animal sacrifices)and then a judgement and punishment is profecied for this practise. I m not sure that I understand the connection with the passages discussing hell. Some help please?

Yes but did jesus worship jehovah? I see too VERY different gods in the bible! You've got jehovah in the old test. Killing the heck out of everyone in sight and on one page he's anti-human sacrifice on the next he's pro (Jeptha anyone) Then in the new test along comes Jesus who is clearly in his own mind GOD!
So which god runs hell?
Jehovah or Jesus? Jehovah seems much more the type to me! As to the scripture in Jerimiah. Well Jehovah is lying! That guy lies all the time! Hell he lies in the first chapter of the bible!

The JWs always taught that the hell fire doctrine of the Christian churches was a doctrine of Satan and the demons.
So I asked...
Why did Jesus use a Satanic doctrine for his illustration?
To which I've never gotten an answer from a JW beyond, "I don't know. That's a good question."

For an indepth book on the doctrine of hell I recommend "The Fire that Consumes" by Edward Fudge if you're interested in Bible research. It used to be published by Commentary Press (Ray Franz) and is an excellent overview of the entire subject. It argues that the Bible teaches that hell is real and there is conscious torment until the final judgement wherein the wicked are consumed.

Whether it's children or not the thought is the same, it's not in Jehovah's heart to do such a thing as burn anyone in the fire. In justice the penalty would not fit the crime. A few years of sin verses an eternity in burning painful agony. I think not.

The world you now inhabit is hell. We shield ourselves from the raw truth about existence here. But yes, the Bible does teach several fates of "the wicked." Annihilation, eternal torment, and Universal Reconciliation.
I opt for the last one. It makes God and Christ into beings one could love, if they're real.
