Why child sex offenders must be NEUTRALIZED.

In many parts of the world when a male or female reaches puberty they are considered potential mates. This is especially true in the culture of many countries in South America as well as the more rural areas of the US. This is not what I am concerned about. Nor am I too concerned about 16 yr old boys having sex with 27 year old teachers, etc. I'm not saying this is a good thing. Not at all. But it is a different category of so called "child sex offenders"

When I talk about the problem of child sex offenders I am refering to adults or older teens who have shown a predatory disposition toward CHILDREN. A person who views kiddie porn for pleasure is to me is just one step from being a kiddie molester. Once they have graduated to actually molesting a child they are no longer salvageable. This is confirmed in thousands of cases. Yes, it would be nice to think that the powers that be can readjust these people through counseling programs, blah, blah. But the fact is, these people are ruined and cannot be trusted ever again to roam freely in society. Over and over we see those who have been given the benefit of the doubt go out and commit these acts again. We release convenience store robbers who go rob another convenience store when they're released. But our children are too precious to allow this. How they are contained is not important. The reason they MUST be neutralized is because, just as they were probably sexually abused as a child, the children they abuse are tomorrows child sex abusers. If they don't murder them. Either way the damage cannot be undone.

    Whether it is by:

    -Lifetime incarceration.

-Chemical or surgical castration. (even the effectivness of this is arguable)

    -Execution

    Nothing less is acceptable.

i agree, that sex offenders tear apart the lives of victims, and with the measures you say should be imposed - anything that would protect a child from this harm is right.

just as they were probably sexually abused as a child,

Gregor - I'm glad you used the word 'probably'. Nothing is a certainty. There are thousands upon thousands of children severely abused in every which way by the adults in their life who do not abuse children, just as there are people who for some reason are raised in a loving and kind environment but who have such a dark side to them, they committ acts of violence toward many people including children.

I do agree with you however regarding neutralization - but how? And at what level do we neutralize? Do we do this to molesters? Or do we hold out the big guns for the child rapists? What about physical abuse? I can find a heck of a lot of people who will tell you that the psycholgoical abuse they suffered at the hands of adults, remains with them far longer than the physical and sexual. Where do we start? Where do we end?

I look at places like Thailand - where kids are sold for sex every day. Kids as young as 6, bought and sold like cars in a lot. Once they don't work any more - there is no value to them - they disappear. The sex trade is massive in places around the world. If we save our own children - do we allow the children in the rest of the world to be abused? And by people living in our own towns, our own country, who travel to places where they can have sex with someone elses kids? Do we have a moral or ethical obligation to help all kids around the world? How? I look at the rebels In parts of Africa, who rape little boys and girls alike and never see justice served to them. I believe that we still place a smaller value on our children over all - a fact seen over and again when abuse is occurring in a home, a church, a school, a neighbourhood - when people suspect, or they hear, or they know - and they do nothing. sammieswife.

And at what level do we neutralize?

When an adult has shown a past interest, like child porn, and has used predatory methods like finding work in child care, coaching, etc. that puts them in contact with children and then they actually act on this and molest a child, THAT IS IT! No more chances! I don't think this would be all that difficult if we could get the bleeding hearts out of the picture. But there's the rub. We have no societal consensus on any matter of crime and punishment. We are all over the map with this subject and most other serious crime. It took 12 years to execute Ted Bundy. If there was ever a type of crime that cries out for harsh justice, this is it.

I'm with you, Gregor. And Sammieswife bring up good points about the worldwide sex trade issues, but what can we do? I'm thinking that as individuals, we can support local groups like 'Child Sexual Abuse Taskforce' (a local group that encourages education, treatment, protection and support for children at risk). We can pay attention at election time and push for stricter laws and longer sentences. We can be proactive about educating our own children and grandchildren. But it's hard to know how to make a difference past our own immediate arm's length. And then we can't always keep our kids safe.

I agree that something has to be done - children should not have to go to bed worrying that some pervert is going to crawl through their window and rape and murder them. They should be able to play without constantly looking over their shoulder in fear. There are so many problems with our system. You let them out after a year or two but where do we put them? Into the lowest income residential sections because that's where they can afford to live. They get lost in the crowd. We lose them once we parole them. They don't register when they should. We can't bracelet them for whatever reason.

To me - if you are convicted of the crime - maybe it's time to tatoo a large blue X on your cheek - so everyone knows what you've done and the police and parole can find you. Parents will be aware of what you have done. The only problem with this scenario is that there would be lynch mobs out in full force and pity the poor man who was tatooed as a joke by some fools. Kind of like all the gang bangers in prison who thought nothing of shooting someone - make a mandatory army stay of 10 years the law and send them over to fight in the wars around the world.

To me, if we protect our kids here but do nothing to stop the child sex trade in other countries, then we've just pushed our problem into other countries to deal with.

But I do agree with the bottom line - we need to protect our children. sammieswife.

    Hey Gregor.

I agree with you that something has to be done.

None of us by ourself can get rid of child-abuse.

Any person who's aware of the issue has a responsibility though.

There are many posts on this forum about this issue.

As you might have noticed many of us do not agree with the

rules and regulations that the WT has. Therefore we have done

everything in our power to change the rules the WT imposes

on their followers. This has increased the safety of the children

    within the (B) organization.

I know this is just a drop of water on a hot plate, but it is the least

we can do. If everybody who's aware of the issue would contribute

just a tiny bit then children all over the world will at least be

    a little better of.

There is no bigger "sin" for a "good" man or woman to see injustice

and not do anything about it.

If we all do what we can I'm sure the world will become a better place.

Too bad it can't be done overnight. But it will be done!

Thank you for the concern for our children.

    Keep up the good work.

You could cut off there penis, or multilate the vagina but what aobut their hands?

Cutting off penises or mutilating vaginas has nothing to do with this problem. Surgical castration of a male removes the testicles, which are the glands that produce testosterone, the male hormone that controls sex drive. Even this procedure is contoversial. Some authorities say that some men may still feel a compulsion to sexually abuse children. This just underscores how futile it is to think counseling and time in incarceration will render a child molester "safe". Tragically, there are thousands of children who have been molested or murdered by those who have already been through the 'best' efforts the current system has to offer. To put it bluntly, they need to be put out of their misery. A society that has no effective way to protect its children and control these predators is a disgrace.
