The destruction of the WTC twin towers is likely to be one of the most significant events of modern history. It is also likely that the US is going to launch an all out offensive in the next 24-48 hrs.

Any predictions as to what will happen, consequences etc. .......post now! It will be interesting to review them in the weeks to come.

The events of last Tuesday should have convinced us all that terroism cannot be tolerated in a "civilized" world. Unfortunately, a significant portion of our world population isn't civilized. Terrorist acts will not be wiped out by the actions of the United States military. That is only going to be brought about by a transformation of the minds and hearts of those who would terrorize.

I am however, reminded of the words of someone in the Nixon administration who said "When you have them by the balls their hearts and minds follow." I believe this will be the theme of our future military actions.

Tuesday was an atack on the United States. Not Israel, not Europe or Asia. My gut feeling is, and pardon my French, they have fucked with the wrong country.

My Own predictions are:no miltary action for a few weeks if not more, and im pretty sure that this is just the begining of terrorist attacks against the America, terrorist organisations have hundreds of "sleepers"all around the world just waiting to start an assault on any american interest, personally i don't think George Bush really knows what he's getting into.

    A month or so.
Why not such a response for McVeigh----WAR---Against
    american terroism? Hmmmm---WHITE----CHRISTIAN.
TWO----people paid for that. 19 people have paid for
what happened on Tuesday so far, REALLY how many
    more were involved, 10-20.

The US government created Tim, Bin Laden, Hussien,
the Iran regien, Iraq crowd, Afganistan's leadership,
this is true and factual---We are reaping what we've sown,
why are we not upset with our own.

The American public does not have the stomach for whats
to come. It's young boys dying in distant lands.
Their should be a WAR a peaceful one fought in the streets
of Washington---Oh but the government won't let you there
now. We must look inward and ask why? Not outward doing
the blame game. Yes I'm in a very small minority now but I
won't cross over----I will embrace all of you in the majority
who are banging the drums of war---when your sons or daughters have died and you come for a place to hide.

    Crossroads,
Nice sentiments but trying to solve the problem by just responding with love would be like trying to hug a rattlesnake to make friends with it! You will get bit, that’s it’ nature!

I don’t like war and death either but sometimes it’s necessary. We're in this situation because we’ve been too soft in the past. They weren't afraid to do this.

As far as a prediction goes, I’m afraid this will be handled much like the most recent conflicts. Obviously from what’s happened, that’s not strong enough action. I hope I’m wrong and they deal with this in a way they will make anyone think twice before messing with this country again.

I know many just want this problem to go away without further bloodshed but that’s just wishful thinking.

There will be a cosniderable length of time before any significant military action. The allies have to be lined up, even if they only provide a token force. Major forces will have to be concentrated. Then there's the matter of exactly where to strike. Weeks if not months in my opinion. The one thing that could be done relatively quickly is a total blockade of communications in and out of Afghanistan. That might happen.

I STILL cant understand the need for war.

Why not arrest and try the people who are ALLEGEDLY guilty. WHY bomb other countries?

For once, Saddam Hussein said something worth listening to (actually, I have always had doubts about him being as bad as made out), that Bush should use wisdom and not military force in sorting this out.

Ranchette---Did you only read the Marvin Gaye Quote?
We RAISED that rattlesnake to bite. Now we our Horrorified
that it bit us. Why be surprised at or angry with it. As you say
thats it's nature. Was it to only bite the Russians or Iranians.

I see the attack coming sooner, maybe in the next 7 days.

I suspect Iraq will be hit as well as Afghanistan.

US backing will dry up amongst those willing to give support.

There will be reprisals in the US, i.e. suicide bombings.

I don't see any sucessful outcome to the military action.

I think the problem lies in what people 'believe in'.

If you believe in any kind of after-life, you have a certain safety net that allows you to be extra peaceful and in a sense say 'it doesn't matter if I die because I'll be dying for my faith and I KNOW I'll be reunited with my family'.

But, what about those of us who don't believe in an after-life, THIS WORLD IS ALL WE HAVE.
It is so unfair to expect us to sit back and peacefully protest and DIE in doing so.

It's ALL about whether you believe there is more than just this 'system' to look foreward to.

    It is SO OBVIOUS.

    That's what it's all about!!
