Is 2006 the new *1975* for the Society?

Think about it - never in the history of the Society have there been so many changes, annoucements and campaigns than in 2006. Only in 1975, could the mass hysteria of the imminent end of the world be said to equal or surpass this year's activity.

What has been the case this year?

    1) Mass lay-off of hundreds of Bethelites.

    2) Awake! goes monthly.

    3) A rare tract campaign to advertise the District Convention.

    4) The Deliverance At Hand District Convention itself, whose sole theme is that "Deliverance is soon!"

    5) Rumors of more Brooklyn properties being sold off.

    6) Announcement of another special campaign, this time to place the Awake! article on Creation

    7) Rumours of a shocking announcement in September

    8) The next study book to be considered is Revelation! It's Grand Climax At Hand!

    9) The September Kingdom Ministry contains 70 corrections, additions and deletions for the Revelation book.

    10) Yet another announcement of a Kingdom News #37 campaign: "False Religion's End Is Near"

Does anyone see a pattern here? What is their aim? This year is certainly different from previous years I can say that. There is something happening here, I just can't put my finger on it.

Maybe someone will have some interesting notes on the upcoming Annual Meeting held in October.

    Myself, I'd call it "desperation".

They are getting desperate. They are trying to fight mass apathy within their own rank and file.

I think they are trying to make 2034 the new 1975.

all the rest is just pre match hype.

Good timing on how the articles on "murmuring against Jehovah's organization" come a month before the 70 alterations to the Revelation book.

The good thing about this, it's all being reported on by the people that come here.

I doubt whether any publisher has seen the KN #37 tract, yet we already have it online.

Never forget - when you write something, it becomes a record.

The Internet has made many WT policies transparent.

I don't think they're building up to anything, just keeping the faithful on their toes by dropping hints.

Most businesses hype the product. With the Watch Tower Society, "hype" IS the product. What we are seeing is hyping the hype. The literature is all like the current Kingdom News. I read that Kingdom News 4 times and it asks questions, makes implications, uses innuendo, but it doesn't actually say one single thing.
They couldn't even get a Jehovah's Witness to say anything good about Jehovah's Witnesses.

As we all have now experienced.....there's nothing to SEE here so please move along. There IS no "news" whatsoever.....

What a sham, I say. They didn't even say when false religion was going to get the boot! They just said "soon" without suggesting a date, or providing any evidence. What a tease.
