All of his family are Witnesses. They told him they are "storing and stocking up" on powdered milk and non-perishable items.......This is the second time I hear that Witnesses are doing this in preperation of "The End".

Year 2000 people were doing the same thing.
my wife did and got mad at me for not taking it seriously.
I don't understand the JW's and the direction received from the GB. If Jah is all powerful and they are His people, Is He not going to provide for them? He promised he would so why stack up on food. They should have more faith in the Creator ability to provide for them.

There was a letter read in the U.S. telling the friends to have supplies on hand for natural disasters, or major terrorist attacks. But, I'm sure that there are plenty of yokels who have taken this further and think that stocking up on cases of Cup O' Noodles will get them through the Great Trib.

My grandpa is still storing old army rations in a 'secret' room.(not much of a secret room as everyone knows about it, so we call it the secret room, while winking and grinning)
If I remember correctly,, these army rations are from world war II. I can only imagine what they would taste like if you were to try a 50+ year old canned food.
My grandpa isn't the only one that's doing this. To my knowledge, a large percentage of the old timers from the midwest keep large stocks of non perishable foods.
I wouldn't be surprised, considering that witnesses AGAIN feel the end is near, soon, now, imminent, that new ones are now jumping the 'let's store food' bandwagon.

It's a good job they are non - perishable.
Unless there is a natural disaster, they are gonna have their emergency supplies for years.

Well, they might keep you warm JH, if you set them on fire.
I doubt you'll find the spiritual food is enough to sustain you physically though.

We used to make cloth frogs and stuff them with dried beans, rice and lentils - food for the great trib.
We were also encouraged to have a secret hiding place in our house to stuff food and bibles. Imagine being a small kid gowing up with this seige mentality. Make no wonder I used to wet the bed!

a forum member stated that in 1999 a sister in the Lake Chiemsee area served a CO the last tin of a noodle dish she had stocked up before 1975.
The whole thread about 1975 is worth a look at. Translated by Google:
