Answer	I am not quite sure how to answer that question because every single person is different and the way that they manifest their emotions depends very much on their characters. In general the Rabbis teach us that the best measuring rod of the depth of a person's feelings is whether they want to give to the other person or take from them. One of the universal signs of love and caring is the desire to give and take care of the person. And in relationships that is normally a pretty good indicator. But, having said that, it is important to stress that very often true love and caring for another means not to give to the person at that time because it will be detrimental to them.

I don't know if I agree with that last sentence. Giving is good. There's got to be some reciprocity going on in a relationship. I think you're talking about someone you just met. How to understand if she's giving you signals? I think most people know when they're being flirted with. Is she flirting with you?

I thanked her but had to bow out. She wanted to know why. I have to spend a lot of time this Saturday preparing for the Sunday School class I'm teaching.

Huge mistake. The last thing a woman wants to hear is that your interest in her only comes second to the mundane duties of your personal life. You need to show a lot more enthusiasm to be around her than that, at the very least, should have made alternative arrangements to meet up and/or asked her out to a movie or something.

Bob - I am kind of with kid-a on this one. Without being too forward, this could be your invitation to find out what is on her mind. Set up a similar 'group' arrangement, maybe a movie or a picnic, something that is not obviously targetting her. Invite her along as part of the group. I would guess that if she takes you up on it, she is interested. If not she was trying to 'set you up' with another of the girls in her group.

I think if she gives you undivided attention, that is a major clue.

With in time if its still there then, you have your answer. If it fades away and the attention is no longer or is almost non-existent it was just a state of Limerence/ Infatuation. Easy come easy go.
