  What is a mounting block? Is this some kind of sex apparatus?

  Well Tom,

  We women have taken this sexual inuendo about as far as we can. Well, maybe further if we're lucky. Red rides horses. And once she mentioned that in her shed, she kept her mounting block.

  That's all it took for me! I had no idea what one was - but no knowledge has never stopped me before from sarcasm. Just kind of cool name for something, don'tcha think? And the mental picture was to good to pass up......

  It really is an apparatus to help persons mount (or get up on) a horse. Kinda like a stepstool, I guess. I explained this to a friend of mine and they asked the obvious question - how does the then-mounted person get off her horse? Slide.

  I'm sure Red does an elegant mount & slide, btw.

  YO, TR, listen up. You obviously missed the initial thread concerning mounting blocks.

  Now, Waiting is convinced that a mounting block is some sort of sexual apparatus. Remember, however, that she is a Southerner (you know how they are).

  A mounting block is simply a wooden platform (or in this case a sturdy plastic block with two steps) used to stand on while getting on a horse. Horses are tall (even my small Peruvian), knees are old....knees hurt....horses complain when you stand beside them futilely attempting to put your foot in a stirrup that hangs somewhere near ear level (or at least it seems that high). I can no longer lift my foot that high, nor will the knees allow me to hoist myself up onto the horse. Therefore, I climb my little plastic steps, place my foot in the stirrup, and get on the horse (that is unless he decides that the mounting block is actually a predator in a hard plastic shell...in which event he moves rapidly sideways away from the mounting block, and my questing foot....leaving me hanging in midair).

  Someone posts about politics, religion, science or any other "deep" subject, and there are handfull of responses.

  Someone talks about mounting blocks or any casual reference to sex, and the board comes alive.

  Being shallow is great, is great, isn't it?
