I found more pleasure in my children, watching them play sports, NOT preparing them to go door-to-door. How do you find pleasure in your children by dragging them, kicking and screaming to doors, to speak to strangers????
The WTBTS needs to understand the family unit.....they have no clue!! Sheesh!!
No more freakin meetings. The reason for the 5 meetings a week is so the WTS can exert a continual brainwashing program with no time to question what is being taught as "THE TRUTH"
When I was a JW kid I wanted to play with my friends but I was locked up in a kingyhall for two hours at a time being fed a bunch of crapola.
It is no wonder I grew up with a distorted outlook on life.

In the old testament Yahweh did provide a 'long list of rules', heaps of them, to the Israelites. Jesus' death ended all that nonsense. The JW organisation is still tightly bound up in lots of little rules and regulations and dos and dont's, because the Watchtower Society prefers to mould the entire organisation on the old testament rather than the new testament. After all, the organisation claims to be a modern day 'nation' of God's people ?

This is what I like about this site, the observations made show me that I wasnt alone in the way i felt when I was a Witless. My mind couldnt get around the fact that the Pharisees would be condemned and yet the amount of rules as a JW - either written or spoken, were over bearing and weighed me down heavily. Some of it was just completely petty for the sake of gaining submission. An example of this was that I would do roving mikes. In the summer despite having airconditioning, the temperature would go up and I tended to sweat quite easily, so still smartly dressed (another rule without biblical backing) I did the mikes without my jacket on, I would have loved to have loosed or removed my tie too in reality, and an Elder gets up and councils me to put my jacket on - what freeking idiots! Power mad they were. The only good thing that comes from the crazy double talk is that it doesnt add up in people's minds and may eventually make them break free of the indoctrination.

I get magazines on occasion from people doing street witnessing in the downtown area where I work. I often see easily identifiable Witnesses (because of how they are dressed and their book bags, and the women are always in pairs). Only thing is, they don't always offer the most current magazines. I picked up two yesterday, the WT is July 15 issue and the Awake is July. It's amusing to see how startled they get when someone actually walks up to them and asks for magazines!
