This from a country so politically astute that the vote was swung by Floridean retirees in kosher hush-puppies (the ones with the zips up the front)...

    DE:
Here we vote for a political party, not the Prime Minister. The party gets to choose the [wo]man, and can equally cast a vote of no confidence and replace them. If Blair resigns then the party will ballot for a replacement, who will then likely serve out the remainder of the government until the next Gerneral Election.

Every system has its quirks. That's one of ours

Well, Simon, at least you don't have a leader that would say, "Yo, Bush" and later give a neck massage to the German Chancellor.

I've got to say Lt that for once I REALLY disagree with you! Most of these 'stumbling retirees' are former business people, drs, lawyers, etc... I mean they had to do well enough at life to be able to afford to retire to Florida! Many of them listen to the news and read the papers. I think the problem is when the vote is decided by those who have no clue regarding issues or even where the politicians stand... 90% of people in this country can't tell you ANYTHING about politics!

But of the 10% who CAN I'll bet most of them are retired!
