The search for the missing Jesus continues. Good that you pointed out how everyone around David paid for David's sins, but not really him. Sure, he had to suffer inconveniences...but he still got to live.

BLONDIE ASKED:
Have you ever wondered why the WTS uses OT examples so much?
THE OT ACCOUNTS SHORE UP THE IDEA OF HAVING FEAR OF GOD - SOMETHING THAT THE JW RELIGION IS BASED ON SO THE TROOPS STAY IN LINE.
The examples cited are just a few accounts of God's dealings w/imperfect humans. We are told that he did what he did to preserve the Davidic line that lead to Jesus.
Contrary to the WT viewpoint that God can read hearts so therefore they must've all been bad (all 70,000) and just dismiss it at that makes me sick and does not endear me to him as my Creator. I always had a problem w/these accounts in the OT. And what about Moses? Faithful his entire life and didn't thank God one time so was left behind from entering the Promised Land. This is justice? I believe the scales are tipped in favor of certain people and the rest are disposable.

Thanks Blondie for your hard work.

Yah this is looking way to familiar , fear of God = obedience to the WTBTS . Of course jesus does not play an important role for the R&F , they are not in the covenant as a christian but are still considered "spiritual jews" , jesus is not directing them with holy spirt but is using the FDS . Well at least they get to be compared to king david instead of the nethinim class . I agree tho they could have used new testament stuff in the article because the great crowd are expected to suffer for the sake of the good news just like the little flock and ancient jews did not have to suffer for their beliefs by persecution . The apostle Paul encouraged everybody to imitate him as he was imitating jesus . That was a very lame article , David was a bit of a dork . Since he had to suffer for his mistakes I guess they feel justified in making the R&F suffer while they get away with all sorts of sneaky underhanded shananigans .
thanks for posting blondie

Fearing God means doing things according to his arrangement.-2 Samuel 6:2-9; Numbers 4:15; 7:9.
I can't imagine where they might be heading (probably next week) with this statement!
I copied your outline on 'How To Review The WT' Blondie. Very insightful. I'm keeping it as a personal reference and I'm going to pass it around to some old friends who are still active.
Thanks for another great review Blondie!

A little bit of a breakthrough in the family study! I got a chance to read the review for the family study, so I was prepared. I commented on how David could screw up time and time again, and other people always had to pay the price. I voiced concern that the child born from David and Bathsheeba's union had to pay for the sins of David. "Well, it was brought up that we don't know if the kid was really sickly and just left to die, or if he was fated to die," said my mom.
"Oh really? Let's take a look," I said. So I read the account in 2 Samuel, I think it was chapter 12 verse 14. I didn't even read verse 15, which said that the Lord struck the child to make it sick. "So it looks like this kid was fated to die. He had to bear the sins of the father."
They had no reply to this.
And the 70,000 that died from the census? Apparently they were all "secret sinners," according to a watchtower. Reading the Old Testament is pretty disturbing...human life is treated in such a cheap manner. Must be why the GB loves to use it all the time...

Blondie, I took a holiday from magazine study this weekend. I have copied your study tips for future reference, excellent! Fall is taking it's time this year, and we are taking full advantage by spending as much time outdoors as possible. My tomatoes are slowly ripening one-by-one. I'm following the example of a great cook I observed by making up a leafy salad first thing in the morning. As a consequence, hubby and I are looking a little fitter and trimmer this month.

Kind of like a huge neon sign, eh, Flash?

Thanks Blondie!"We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Watchtower is actually saying:" Be afraid, Be very much afraid." When it is really them, the society, that is afraid of losing their members. As they see the rank and file leaving and the donations shrinking they come out once again with this fear article. It is they who should fear what is coming upon them. Especially concerning the child abuse issue, the blood issue, and doctrinal issues that will soon fall by the wayside. The David examples are all worn out and misapplied as usual.
