In Las Vegas last week, I overheard two very interesting conversations.
On Friday we took the bus to Fremont Street, and a young woman got on and sat behind us. She immediately started talking, very weird stuff. Her voice was very raspy and whispery, but loud. She said things that didn't make sense and asked if "you want to talk about Revelation?". I turned to see who she was talking to and the woman next to her was looking out the window. She kept on talking, sometimes saying rude, abusive-type things. So I halfway turned to see if she was on a cell phone.............she wasn't. Finally, she got off the bus. I asked the woman by the window, who the girl had been talking to. Her eyes got real big and she said "herself.............actually, several of herselves". Everyone laughed. Then she turned around and told her husband never to let her sit alone again. It was very weird.
On Saturday, I was playing slots at Barbary Coast, an old, kind of crummy casino, but it has loose slots. Two security guards were standing pretty close to me, and talking religion. I determined early on that one of them was a JW. The machine was winning for me ($50.00) so I didn't leave, but my gag reflex was kicking in.
Mike Tyson was at our hotel. We never saw him, but he was conduction a training camp there. We heard people talking about seeing him. Big deal.
On Saturday, when I went to retrieve my comp points, from the Player's Card (you put it in the slot machines while playing, or give it to the dealer at a table game, and it accumulates points), I thought it would be about $35.00. I not only got that much in cash, but our hotel bill was comped for 3 nights out of 4. I was so shocked, but really happy. I have no idea how that works, but the man at the desk said it helps to charge everything to your room. It increases your chances of getting big comp points. We had charged several meals that way.
We saw the Beatles' Love, Cirque du Soleil show at The Mirage. It was amazing. We both loved it and highly recommend it if you are going to Vegas. It was my birthday so I asked for a free seat upgrade. We were in the second row of the balcony. They ticket man said he would absolutely do that for me, but our seats which were the 3rd most expensive price, out of 4, were much better than the #1 or #2 seats. Since we were at an elevation, he said we would get a much better overall view of the show. He was so right. I can't imagine the other seats being able to appreciate it the way we did.
