Wear something casual and be yourself. Have a good time. Don't over indulge and just enjoy.

I did some reading and this is what I turned up. First of all, nobody is allowed to wear any underwear to Christmas parties. Also, remember to make out with the host/hostess. In this case it would probably be the CEO of your husband's company. Remember to bring a chilled codfish, there will be a contest that involves these. And it's perfectly acceptable to break off a branch of the Christmas tree to bring home for a souvenir. The Christmas cake should be both served and eaten with bare hands. Lastly, be sure to find out where the Christmas vomitorium is before you eat the cake--you will be thankful later when you need to clear out some room for more eating.

Sit on Santa's lap. Whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

Hello,
I went to my very first Christmas Party for the company I work for too, last year. I felt the same as you. It was formal, like what you would wear to a wedding but a little more glitzy. Guys wore suits and the girls wore evening dresses and suits. And I didn't see one girl with a mini dress on. Which also suprised me since we have alot of young ones working at the office. One thing that I expected that DID NOT happen, was I expected everyone to be drunk out of their gourd by the end of the night. To my suprise I did nt see one person drunk! And I only saw two people at the very end slightly gigglely, but nothing at all what I expected a non-witness function to be like! And there were about 500 people there! They had a full bar and there was plenty of liquer being served. I told my husband, minus the Santa and Elves walking around you would think it wa a "witness" party. I had always since I was little thought that "wordly" functions would be drunken, loose orgies. Yet, once again, they put in your head what they WANT you to believe. I am sure you will have a great time!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty

Be prepared for people to act . . . NORMAL!!! You should have a great time. Most people will not overindulge, but there's usually one or two who are either escorted home or generally make asses of themselves. Just avoid them -- it shouldn't be too hard. Dress as you would for a nice dinner out, and have a great time!!!
CHRISTMAS IS FUN!!!!
Hugs,
Nina

What to wear? That's simple, tell your husband to ask a colleague how they dress up during their Xmas parties, casually or to the nines, and do accordingly. Then you won't get embarassed by being dressed in a way that's different to all the rest.
Typically Xmas is a time of relaxation and good will but many people over eat and put on pounds.

Thanks for the help. I like the "no underwear" rule. From what I understand, they get really wild at the Xmas parties. He works with mostly guys, only about half are married. Went to a company function last week and had a blast. I was told that they were tame then, but at the xmas party they get really wild. I just wish it wasn't so far off.
