I was just told that a young man from our area that has been at Bethel for a couple of yrs. is being let go . He didn't work in the book making process either , he was a trained mechanic working on Bethel vehicles. I was just wondering if this is part of the original layoffs or if this is in addition to those ?
Is there a new round of Bethel layoffs or is it just the continuation .....

All the layoffs are being handled gradually so as to keep things running as smooth as possible (training others to take new assignments, etc). This is all part of the original layoffs, which began a few months ago. So far, there have been around 1000 let go from the US Branch.

My understanding is that there are like 2 phases, one at the beginning part of the year, and another one later. The 2nd phase of "layoffs" is beginning now.
But it's all part of the big downsizing arrangement announced last December.

Okay thanks . The person that told me said he was happy to leave !.... hahaha ... I don't think she meant it quite like that, but I can imagine he is ecstatic to be free . Can you imagine a 22 yr. old who has made his parents and congregation proud, and he is still young enough to make a go of it on the outside . ( probably a lot less delusional now that he has seen the inside ) He really lucked out big time .

Hah! I knew it! You see, the congregation's PO is trying to get me into Bethel to work on cars. Please PM me more about this guy's circumstances so I can offer that as a rebuttal to his pestering suggestions.
