To say that JW's are more afraid of death than anyone else is an unproven assertion. So we have another thread of propaganda. You all obviously have developed your hatred of JW's into a past time.

Ah yes AL. The good old 'no marriage' deal. Used to tourque me up pretty bad. I mean, how can they say that to horny teenagers? Or worse yet, horney adults . Now THAT's a good reason to fear death - no more sex!!!!!

Proplog, whatever. I don't read hatred of JWs here. Just trying to understand what makes 'em tick There are some JWs who are terrified of death, and there are some that give it no thought.

    Proplog2,

I for one, do not hate JWs. Believe it or not, I have great respect for many of them as people, friends, and relatives.

Regardless, the original poster posed an interesting question, and others expressed their honest opinions in response to that question. Many of these responses are driven by years of association with JWs, and therefore offer value in their perspective.

Many posters here do have an agenda. And so do you - as evidenced by your tone. In addition, only a person acting foolishly would take another individual's opinion as fact without examining it for themselves to see whether it is indeed simply propaganda. Your post is worthless.

Expressing an opinion or sharing an experience DOES NOT equal propaganda.

    NW,

    Exactly.

More seriously though, that particular resurrection teaching is a difficult one to swallow for many, particularly a couple who has spent many years together.

Equally difficult to explain (*especially* to a Bible student) is how wonderful it will be for them to be reunited with their mate without being remarried to their mate.

Just one single reason why some get their hearts set on living right on through "this system of things."

Also maybe another reason so many JWs marry so young (besides the fact that they are horney and that's they only way to 'get some'). They may feel pressure to 'get some' before they die, cause if they did die a virgin they'd forever have missed out on sex. Well, at least sex with another person - I don't suppose the hand counts ...

I am going to put myself in a very vulnerable position, but here goes; I am incredibly afraid of the eventual death of everyone I love and care about, least of all myself.

When I was "worldly" death never, I mean never mattered nor entered into the picture. 15 years of dubdom has made death a major part of my psyche and daily thought processes.

Lately, since beginning my exodus, I am afraid again.

UR - I really find this conversation facinating. My wife and I were actaully discussing this very thing a few days ago.

May I ask what it is about death that is so frightening? As far as I'm concerned, it's terrible sad when a loved one dies, but we do know it will happen. It's a tough situation. I myself don't beleive in any life after death right now, but I don't fear my own death. I want to live a good life, and when it's over, it's over.

On the other hand, I would think that growing old and watching all your friends/family perish until you were alone would be a terrible hard thing to deal with.

I guess where I stand at this point is that everyone dies, and you can do 2 things with that knowledge - live life everyday in fear of that time, or live life everyday to it's fullest - whatever it is that makes a person complete/happy.

Utopian, I understand this completely. Whenever I think of losing my loved ones I get a physical pain in my chest, nothing happens if I think of me dying.

    Hi namewitheld,
I too, believe it is incumbant on all sentient beings to live life to the fullest,,now. Not buy into false hopes and dreams that basically serve to infantilize us.
Every loss we go thru is simply the preparation for understanding and accepting our own mortality. Life is a cycle of birth and death. This, in it's utter simplicity is what folks seem to deny. regards,Tina

    Available Light:

Propaganda can inlcude "proven" facts, as well as opinions. Propaganda is defined by "intention". The intention can be to get people to love or hate something. Jehovah's Witnesses are also experts at propaganda. One thing is certain - when facts are few there is little value to be obtained than "propaganda". I feel it is important to call things propaganda when that is the main purpose.

We literally are swimming in propaganda all the time. It is a healthy reminder.
