    Hi All:

The generation change was the last straw for me. I wrote a Letter to the Society which was never answered. My JW parents read the letter and I think it got them pretty upset. Here is a link to the letter.

Thanks for the link. I copied your letter as a just in case type of letter. My plan is if the Elders ever want to throw me out, I will use parts of wonderful letters like your's, docbob's and others and mold it with my own words. Links like this are a wonderful way of making sure if that time ever comes, I will have said everything I wanted to say.

Pretty amazing. Jeffery's letter could not be more clear and to the point.

It would seem clear that the WTS's expectation of the rank and file is a tacit understanding and agreement that whatever the Watchtower comes up with the R & F will swallow whole with no questions asked and damn well like it. The 1914 flip-flop is particularly egregious to me; as an old-timer, 1914 was always portrayed as the cornerstone upon which so many flimsy JW premises were built. To toss out 1914 so cavalierly is a gigantic FU to millions of loyal witnesses. Bastards.

1914 AND THE LAST GENERATION: [Oct. 15, 1995 Watchtower] ~ 1914, that's when Russell and his Bible Students were waiting for Armageddon to come. They waited 35 long years for 1914...and then, NO ARMAGEDDON. Then 81 years later the GB runs scared and changes a primary teaching of Christ, even though the sign was, and still is, in FULL BLOOM right in front of them (Luke 21: 29 ~ 32). It was clearly because Eighty ONE years had passed since 1914 and that they were applying Psalms 90:10 LITERALY. When all they had to do was look around themselves at everyone older than eighty to know the scripture HAS to be a figuer of speech! The 'Age of Reason' teaching was purely human thinking NOT Divine. People born in 1914 right now are 92, old yes, but many people live well on into their ninety's. Even people 100+ are becoming more common now. So in the 'not to distant future' we can expect to see serious changes at the UN toward religion

Your kind of late to the party, that change was made in October 15, 1995 Watchtower. I already went through that shock, main reason I started questioning things and left. Thanks for helping me to see that not everyone else caught on.

Great letter, Jeff! You caught them dead in their own rhetoric. No matter how they would answer this--and of course they couldn't--they would have to admit lying at some point, or admit they have no "spiritual pipeline" to get these prophecies right.

Maybe they should print less literature? Whatever they print can be used against them at some point.

I too had anticipated the generation changing, so it was the beginning of the end for me, though I was so gutless i hung around for another 10 years.

What stunned me at the Watchtower study is that it kept being said that despite this new understanding the end was even closer than any of us figured. Go figure. How guillible can people be.

Zico, it is amazing to hear you never even knew about the generation teaching. That is the great power of the WTS, keep the masses in the dark about who they really are and hide from them the wake of refuse doctrine.

I laughed about it, I always had doubts about it and reminded my ex that the GB changed the doctrine when they could not strech the 1914 generation anymore.

How convenient for them and how foolish on my part for sticking around many more years due to selfish reasons.........FAMILY

The Watchtower has continued to dangle this carrot with ongoing changes to make it seem just about here.

Here is a list of changed understandings:

    To end in 1880 - 100 years from 1780

    To end in 1914 – 36 1/2 year generation from 1878

    To end by 1950 – 30 or 40 year generation from 1914

    To end 1975 – 70 year generation from 1914

To end by 1980’s- life expectancy of 15 year old from 1914

To end by 2000 – life expectancy of 10 year old from 1914

To end sometime – generation unspecified starting in 1914

For quotes of Watchtower justification the above doctrine see http://jwfacts.com/index_files/generation.htm
