And here I thought the Vikings were the first ones here ...

Farkel, so they're onto the old '6 billion gotta die' question now. Think it'll be in the next 'reasoning' book? I still don't understand how his answer was an answer though. You showed more restrant than I think I would have. Thanks for the story!

    Farkel,

: That cheap bastard gave me a four-year-old-mag! It's all probably "old light" by now. Dammit!

Not a very effective ministry if it takes this guy four years to place a pair of mags. My supplier (the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport JW desk) has magazines only a few months old. (I wonder if they will be allowed to keep their desk now that tighter security is in place?)

How’s this for an idea? The WTS could publish the mags on super-rapid-bio-degradable paper. They could sell themselves as Earth-friendly as the mags would be dust in a couple of years. Better still, old light would blow away in the wind. Little, timid JWs would have the choice of selling bags of happy dust or new magazines.

    Regards,

    Thirdson

Incidentally, I imagine it's the same in the States, as here in the UK. Subs have all but been done away with. You can't escape contact, if you want the mags, even if it is from a timid, causally dressed guy.

Thirdson: ha ha, don't give them any ideas! But their real problem would be how to make bio-degradable CD-ROMS

    Ha Ha:

Poor stereotypically "inscrutable" sly smiling oriental. Yeah Watchtower = Dumb. Farkel = SOOOOOOOOO Smart.

You are entertaining the "haters". There is nothing in your piece that is humorous to people who want to promote love, peace and understanding in the world.

I never realized that the WTS would refuse to give anyone a subscription! How arrogant!

I let mine run out a few years ago, and let my son's to the Awake run out a year or so ago. I did it because I didn't often read them and thought it was wrong to waste paper. I am thinking about asking my mom to get a subscription for me again, but I do not want her to get her hopes up and think I want to come back. I am quite intrigued as to what will be coming out soon.

: Poor stereotypically "inscrutable" sly smiling oriental.

Incrutable means "mysterious" and had its origins in France. People raised in Asian culture are typically trained not to show much emotion in public or a business.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill.

How in the world could I be a racist? I hate everyone!

    Hey Eyebrow,

Arrogant, indeed! That would be our beloved Society.

My m-i-l fills our WT & A subs - faithfully. I tried to let them lapse, but man! that old woman was on me like white meat on rye! Every friggin' day! Told her they were free, I would not contribute towards the work - she said she would *for* me.

I finally gave in - but wrote on bottom of check that it was a payment for subscription to Watchtower & Awake magazine. Lol - making a mountain out of a molehill, eh?

When it came time for my husband's renewal - I just wrote the damned check. The 80 year old woman is relentless! She went away all happy and smug 'cause she came a little closer to *saving* us - and two subs to turn in.
