  Campfire Ghost Stories and Jehovah's Witnesses

  Being in the organization there were always stories, rumors, and gossip
  that ran rampant throughout the congregations. From time to time you
  would hear about the ghost stories of what happened to so and so.

  The Ghost Stories in the Organization

  One of the more popular ones that circulated in the 1980s was a
  father entering his daughter's bedroom and he noticed that the
  daughter's smurfs (magical toy creatures) were dancing on her
  bed.

  Another story that was related to me, were that these two sisters
  were out in service and they were talking to the householder,
  who also happened to be a woman, and as the sister was talk-
  ing to this woman she started to levitate.

  What stories have you Heard?

  Admittedly, stories get twisted and turned every time they
  are related. However, just out of curiosity how many of
  these stories did you hear when you were in the organ-
  ization?

  Please expand upon this discussion out of curiosity
  and confirmation of these stories.

  little off the subject, but i remember hearing in the congo that there was an interview with a group of clairvoients,(sp??)

  and the interviewer asked them if their was a true religion, and They said yes, its the jdubs.

  What a thread! I forget some of things we heard!

  I do remember when I was little hearing about two jws out in service. They go up to a house and it is full of dogs and cats. There may have been loud music playing, memory is fuzzy. Don't remember much other than apparently a dog came walking on its hind legs to answer the door and started talking.

  Also, a married couple of jws are driving to their house and see a couple going in that looked just like them (you know, demons taken on human form). Even had the same car at they drove.

  Another, an old sister in service at door by herself. Criminal answers door. Sister gives presentation and he doesn't harm her. Police ask him later why he didn't and he answered, "well, she had a huge man standing next to her" .

  Smurfs: Apparently a jw father took one outside and put it in a burning barrell to burn it but couldn't set it on fire. It got up, climbed out of the barrell and walked away.

  I heard most of them when I was 10 years old or so. Hard to remember them all.Hope this helps!

  I remember hearing about an interview on the radio with satanists, they were asked if there was a true relgion. They said "Yes, its the JWsand we are targeting their youths"............LOL Scared me at the time.

  I remember hearing something about some pioneer women being out in service and a dog attacking them or something and they said the name "Jehovah" aloud and it was like a wall came around them and protected them from being attacked from these dogs. Something about the dogs running into a magical invisible wall or someting. I'm sure I've heard other stories... it's just been so long.

  I heard one about strange blue disembodied lights on a wall with no apparent source. The family stayed up all night praying to jehovah and later on they found an ancient coin taped to the doorframe of the house, clearly posssessed by demons.

  I, too - remember the one about the witness gal going door-knocking - and the fella answering the door - who had just (cue Psycho music) murdered the Avon lady. When the cops asked him later why he didn't also kill the JW - he answered about the 'two large men on either side of the lady'.
  
  There was some story - I think printed in the Awake - about a fella in one of those countries where they put out religious candles to honor the dead. Well, this fella needed some lights at home - and so took a few of the candles - and this brought him and his family 'demon' troubles - until he tossed them, and praised jah.
  
  There are loads of other urban jw legends...

  My old man was studying with this guy , but he had a lot of black magic books and books on demonism etc in his house. So my old man and his mate have to take these books somewhere and burn them, but everytime they went to burn them some coincidence would occur that prevented them burning them. Finally they found someplace to burn them when the fire started and a arrow flew from the fire and just missed my old mans mates head, although my old man did not see it!

  I know a brother who tried to destroy a religious statue he had (when he was studying to become a witness) and it wouldn't break when he threw it on the ground. He then got a hammer and it still wouldn't break. He finally got a small sledge hammer and it finally broke, after much pounding. He also tried to burn some religious books that he had, and they wouldn't burn until he finally had to put some flammable liquid on them, and they did a slow burn.

  I remember one from way back.

  Couple of jw's were at a house in field service. The person there was demonized and when they read a scripture with the name Jehovah in it, the demon left the person.

  Another one is there was a person who come into the troof who had played with magic and witchcraft and had sex with demons. When they started studying everything the demons went away.
