who is king of the south/north?

I think that the US and Britain is still the King of the South

And they won't say who is the King of the North.

Previously it was the Soviet Union.

Probably the JW's must think that the King of the North today could be any of the following: Russian Chinese military alliance (Shanghai Corporation), or Iran, or the Muslim world.

I don't know what the present "thought" is on that but the last time I attended regular meetings back in the late 90's there were a few making bets that it would be China.

The "Your Will be Done" book, (light green hardbound cover) published in the 1950s, and subsequent Watchtower articles characterized the King of the South as the Democratic Block of Nations (led by the United States and Great Britain) and the King of the North as the Communist Block of Nations (led by the Soviet Union).

I recall in the late 1980s and early 1990s that JWs wondered what the Society would do if the Soviet Union and Communism fell apart. Some thought it wold be a serious blow to the prophecies in the Your Will Be Done book. Others wondered if the King of the North would be redirected to the block of Middle East nations made up of OPEC or Islamic theocracies.

When this concern arose and the Soviet Union did crumble, I personally took it as another of many evident proofs that the Watchtower Society is a false prophet. What would be interesting is if we went back and dissected the Your Will Be Done book, and see how many false prophecies and weird statements the Society made.

The king of the north and south cannot just keep changing to suit the societies whims. They don't have a clue who really fullfills this prophecy. Why they put out the 2 Daniel prophecy books to bring this to everyone's attention is beyond me. I remember studying these the first time around and wondering what they had to do with the Bible or anything we really needed to know. No one talked about them later or really seemed to understand them. I felt I was in some kind of a poorly researched history class.

So the society has no idea this time and strangely even admits it.
