    STOP JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FROM TRESPASSING

Christians frequently complain that JWs have interrupted their family's Christmas morning, Thanksgiving Day meal, or simply their Saturday morning sleep-in. Few people know that JWs can EASILY AND LEGALLY be STOPPED from knocking at their frontdoor.

For various legal reasons too lengthy to discuss now, without realizing such, most homeowners have given door-to-door canvassers, including JWs, "implied" permission to enter onto their private property and knock on their door.

However, YOU can "expressly" withdraw such "implied" permission. All that is legally required of a homeowner is that they expressly Notify the local JW Congregation that its members are prohibited from entering onto the homeowner's property for purposes of advancing the JW faith. JWs actually have established procedures to record and comply with such notifications, because if they fail to do so, their members can be held criminally and civilly liable for "Trespassing".

These links are to recent news articles about a Pennsylvania homeowner who successfully sued a JW for "Trespassing".

Here is a sample Notice Letter which can be used:

    .........................................
    .........................................

    October 1, 2001

__City__, __State__ Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
    648 Hadesbound Avenue
    City, State 09999

    Dear Sirs:

Please notify all members of your organization that they are NOT PERMITTED ENTRY onto our private residential property for any purpose relating to the Jehovah's Witnesses religion.

Our private residence is located at:

    ______________________________

    ______________________________

Hereafter, if any member of your organization "trespasses" on our property in violation of this Notice, they may be criminally and civilly prosecuted.

    Respectfully,

    ______________________________
    Mr. John Christian

    Mrs. Jolene Christian

cc: Watchtower Bible and Tract Society
    25 Columbia Heights
    Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483

    ..................................................................................

The local JW address can be found in the telephone book white pages under "Kingdom Hall", "Congregation", or simply "Jehovah's Witnesses", or try the "Church" listings in the Yellow pages.

A duplicate of the Notice should be kept. The "cc-carbon copy" is optional. It is to the JW organization's main headquarters.

It is best that the original be mailed using "registered-return receipt requested". However, there's no reason regular mail can't be used, at least for the "cc".

To supplement this Notice, a homeowner can also make/place a small sign on their frontdoor, which states:

    NO SOLICITORS OR JWS!

Thereafter, if a JW ever knocks on your door, they are at your legal mercy.

Churches can use this as not only a church-wide project, but also can even go door-to-door in their neighborhoods with Petitions set up like the Notice above. I have heard of Petition campaigns which reportedly have collected over 7000 signatures to stop JWs from knocking at doors.

A 2001 Federal Appeals Court decision also has ruled that it is "constitutional" for an Ohio municipality to require JWs (and other canvassers) to register with the City, with the City maintaining a record of homes where the JWs can and cannot visit. This is something that could be passed on to your local government officials.

Here is a link to that Court decision:

Please contact me if I can be of any assistance in helping your church with such a campaign. I would also like feedback from those who have done such.

The problem is, what Church would do what you suggest?

Only the ones that don't teach their parishioners anything to defend their faith.

Any Church that would do what you suggest, would be pretty pitful.

All christians are supposed to be ready to defend their faith, and forbiding JW to knock on their doors would tell alot about them don't you think?

    D wiltshire,

I agree with you that most Churches would not use this form for the reason you state, for one. Most parishioners know little if anything about the beliefs of JWs. It is hard to even find Pastors that are well informed about the WT. One of the best things I have found to do, is to inform the Pastors with information and documentation about the WT and the belief systyem of the JW. If you can get a foot in the door, some Pastors are more than happy to have an exJW come to their Church and teach the people. The more information circulated, the more become informed and are able to deal with the Witness when they come to the door. If anything, at least people will know that the WT is anything but a Christian religion and they will want to have nothing to do with it.

This morning, I had 3 replies from ministers/pastors.

One said he liked the idea, and that he was going to run it by the Church elders.

A second rambled on that he was unsure, but that he too would run it by the Board to see what they thought.

The third reply was in line wih what DWilt and Scorp said: "We're not afraid of JWs".

There's no doubt that some ministers/pastors would see their church doing this as exhibiting "fear" of JWs. However, I'm guessing that 90% of their members would gladly sign such, rather than welcoming the opportunity to "witness" to JWs.

To be SUCCESSFUL, this effort doesn't require that every single minister/pastor has to agree with this or even do it.

All that is needed is for a FEW CHURCHES to get the ball rolling. Then, when MEMBERS of other churches find out that their neighbors are no longer being pestered, BUT THEY ARE, then they will want to do the same thing.

HOW MUCH OF YOUR TIME AND EFFORT is it going to take to send this to some of your local churches? Gee whiz! People here constantly bitch and moan about the WTS, and wish they could do something, blah, blah, blah...

Then, when something comes along which they can do easily and quickly, all they can do is nitpick negatives so that they have an lame excuse to not have to lift a finger and possibly strain an ass muscle.

IT WILL ONLY TAKE A FEW SUCCESSES TO GET THE SNOWBALL ROLLING!!!

    MadA,

I don't think this is true:

Then, when something comes along which they can do easily and quickly, all they can do is nitpick negatives so that they have an lame excuse to not have to lift a finger and possibly strain an ass muscle.

I think there are a good number of people here that will put lots of effort to stop, or at least slow the WT, they just have to see its value.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It may be a good plan, and I could be totally wrong(it's just my .02).

    DWilt:

If YOU take 1 single hour of your precious time to send this to 4 or 5 of your local churches, and they do absolutely nothing, what have you lost other than 1 hour?

HOW MANY HOURS DID YOU PREVIOUSLY WASTE FOR THE WTS?

    MadApostate,

Anything is worth a try. If there are Pastors that are willing to circulate this and there are people willing to sign it, then it is worth the effort.

If you are interested, you might check this site out. It is another way to stop the door knockers.
