The useless WTS Website

I can't believe and low-tech and next-to-useless the Watchtower website is. Considering how in the past the JW's used radio and other technology to help spread the JW Doctrine "Good News", it seems they should have developed a great website to help get new members.

But their site is dreary and hollow. Old information like the "Generation of 1914 will see the end of the system" is still posted there. The site is a hollow shell, a relic.

Do you think the GB fear the Internet so much they hold back from using it to proselytize?

I don't think they would know how to proselytize with teh interweb. They don't show any desire to learn. After all, door to door is working SO WELL!

    Hello Pope:

I think it is a dead organization which, in turn produces a dead web page.

If the WTS encourages JWs to visit its website or to use the internet to proselytize, more and more JWs will get online. And that's just too dangerous a prospect for the WTs. It's too easy a jump from a WTS website to one like this. The society would never risk it.

They don't trust the average JW to remember www.watchtower.org and don't want them typing in "watchtower" or "jehovahs witnesses" into the search bar. The interweb is simply not a sanctioned channel of communication for the FDS. They stick to channels they can tightly control.

The pages are small and load quickly.

It could be handy if you are in the home of a Jdub too.

Google Watchtower Propaganda (note: not, "Watchtower Propaganda") on his PC and you have a feast of hypocrisy to feed a debate on in the top hit.

Search the site's search engine for generation.

The second hit takes you to a pre-1995 generation change article. Grab the sucker's 1995 volume and show him the change.

Get to know how to use the site for those rare occasions when you have a Jdub's attention.

    Cheers

Yeah, but weren't you always embarrassed by how bad the illustration art was in all of the publications, too? I mean, come on here. Besides, they aren't encouraged to get an education or pursue lucrative careers, so what are the odds of finding anyone truly computer savvy in the ranks, aye?

All of the IT guys probably got sent home in the Bethel layoffs. The website is probably being administered by Carey Barber in his wheelchair.

Anyone know if the website maintenance is done In-house or is outsourced?

Why is it, when I hear the terms "Watchtower" and "technology" together, I get visions of a guy stoking a boiler with coal?
