What were your first experiences here or your first posts, and how did you feel as beginners here? I was worried whether what I was writing could violate the posting rules or whether (as on other forums) there would be rude people that would discourage me.
Your early JWD days

I just remember wishing that I could have picked a really cool alias like "scholar" or "thirdwitness". But, alas; it was not meant to be. Such aliases had already been taken by those captivating, and awe-inspiring intellectual immortals who reside among us.

When I first started posting here, just under a year ago, what struck me initially was how welcoming people were. I had not stopped going to meetings long before that, and hadn't disassociated, but I could sense that there was genuine love and real support available here, so differrent from the conditional affection, one can hardly call it love, at the kh.
I was made to feel at home here from the start, and being here has helped me so much to leave jwism behind me and take my life back again.

I got right into it (obviously). During the early days, there were a lot of bickerers and complainers around. A lotta babies too, quite immature in how they dealt on the board. There seems to be a spike here of new ones which is great. This site is mainly to help new ones get out of the WT. It's the best place for the latest!

Fullofdoubt it's true that this forum is very welcoming to newcomers and there are lots of them too. Minimus you make some interesting points the forum mainly helps newcomers who then move on in life, except a few. I bet you didn't know when you started that you would become one of the top posters.

I was surprised at the pleura of knowledge so many posters have about the WTS.

For me it was paranoia. Would anyone recognize me and turn me in to the elders. Now it doesn't matter. I've more friends here than in my town.

lol @ minimus! I remember well. You use to dance a lot back then. I think that may have set some posters off. Some that perhaps couldn't dance?
When I first started posting I thought there were way too many bellyachers and I could have and probably was tagged a jw apologist. Back then I was struggling with 'should I stay or should I go' with regard to the wt. I thought I knew a lot more then I actually did. Learning all I could about the society became a mission in life but as a poster I tried to stay as light hearted as I could while learning. I hated all the slugfests even though I would occasionally get sucked into some. Emotions can run high when we start posting so much info about something that has had a tremendous impact on our lives.

I was very happy to find this forum 4 years ago. The posts and comments seemed balanced, truthful and not exaggerated.
I remember seeing posters with 1000 and 2000 posts. I said to myself WOW !!! I was only a newbie.

I read a lot but posted very little. Tension at time ran high on here, but gradually I began to feel I could post with confidence someone would not attack everything I said. I hung to the JW mentality for 6 months after I left 5 years ago.
