Good for you, Frannie! I know you can do it. Seems like you are really ready.

Old Flambé makes a good point about noticing your triggers and trying to either avoid them or be prepared for them. I know that my father (who quit smoking at the age of 71) had the most trouble when on the phone or when talking to people in groups. He always carried lifesavers so he could pop one in his mouth when the urge got strong. Not sure how good that was for his teeth but you do what you have to do. He also used the patch to help him overcome the nicotine cravings.

You guys and gals are just terrific supporters here! Thank you all so much!

I'm watching for those triggers, but one of 'em's after I eat and I don't have any inclination to stop eating, so I'll work around it.

Someone suggested that a good "pacifier" is a drinking straw cut to the length of a cigarette. I'll grab for that straw....heheh.

So far so good today.........and STILL feeling really, really good when I catch myself being triggered.

    I lurvs yall!

    Good for you Frannie!

I was told to have a large cup w/a straw filled w/ice water. One of those big mugs that you can take w/you in the car while driving. As you know your car won't start w/o you lighting up first! Helps keep the fingers and mouth busy. And is good for you.

    All the best.

    Hugs,

A lot of people either go back to smoking or start because it is a way of thumbing their nose at the Watchtower. It is too bad they don't ban something healthy like eating apples.

Good luck with the quitting. I know you can do it. It is getting harder to find places to smoke so I think it is a little easier to quit that it was in the past.
