Nsrn,
It never rain but it pours!
I hope you're ok after taking your cat to the vet. Andy, above, only recently lost his cat!
So sorry to learn about your mom, too! Here's to happier days ahead!! ((((((((((()))))))))))))

It's a tough dilemma but that is the only way to put the cat out of its suffering, what else can one do?
I've gone through this twice ... once when my cat died in my arms before I could get her to the vet, and once at the vet. Neither was easy ... Thoughts and prayers coming your way ...

It's tough to lose a pet by any cause, but euthenasia is the least painful for the animal.
I almost lost my Smokey Cat a few months ago. He's doing much better but he's so old that the next episode may be his last. He had a long and hard life before the cat shelter rescued him from a city alleyway, so I've tried to make his days as comfortable as possible.
When the time comes -- a couple of weeks later there will be another shelter cat welcomed into the house. My home is a modest one and it has a hole in it that needs at least two cats to fill.
My heart goes out to you. It is always so sad when you have to make that final decision. I've been through that a number of times. You'll never forget your pets who have passed away. The memories are always with you. They are each individuals with their quirkiness. Know that you did the very best for Spunky; she loves you for that.
I hope too that your mom starts feeling better. You have a lot on your plate right now.
Hugs,
Juni
Awww baby...I hate that you have to sit and watch the clock tick for another whole day. Its not an execution honey, why put yourself through that torture? Its never easy...and you can miss her the rest of your life and all us kittie lovers will totally understand. Animals come into our lives, they bless us while they are here, and they depend on us to help them go when the time comes and not think of ourselves and how much we will miss them...but keep them from being in pain any longer than need be. As you sit there mourning, a new pretty kitten who would love to take all that love you have to give is being born, and she will be ready when you are.
Give yourself some time and then go find your new baby foofie. It would be a shame to waste all your hugs on a tear stained pillow sweet heart.
We will be with you.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I know it's not easy, as I just had to make that decision in July with my dog, but sometimes it's just the right and humane thing to do. Keep dwelling on those happy memories!

That is so sweet!
