the governing body is CERTAIN that Jehovah's day is getting near
Literally or figuratively?
This is just more WT busywork to get the r\f out doing anything to take time away from seeing the org for what it really is.....an old paper publishing corp whose anouncements, based upon it's history, are much ado about nothing. Frankly, if someone came to my door with this nonsense, I'd be tempted to sic my dog on them. I'm actually concerned about the safety of my wife out there peddling this particular piece of garbage dor to door. If she got her block knocked off, you think it'll be the soceity who'll pick up the bill?
"the governing body is CERTAIN that Jehovah's day is getting near"
...is this 'day' being 'near' defined in earthly days... 'godly' days... or the planet Alcyone in the Pleiades cluster days?
They always seem to come back later on and say something like "a day to jeehober is like a thousand years...' or somesuch. So, it would be good if these chaps would
a) First put their 'behind doors speech' in print in one (or more) of their publications - instead of playing the '1975 Game' (by Fred Franz)
b) define what they mean a little more about the 'day'
c) define 'near' - they might be using a totally different dictionary than most folks...
Of course... we all know it's all 'sales-talk'. They're just trying to bolster the sagging attendance numbers, which is affecting the income of their empire.
Long Live the Internet.

I wonder if I can apply the "day-for-a-year rule."
If God said at Gen. 6:3 that man's "days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years"
then later, the "day-for-a-year rule" was put into place by God, for the WTS to discover later,
then there could be a hundre and twenty years left from 1914. If the end doesn't come in
2034, quite a while from now, then I will apply the "day-for-a-year rule" to the 120 years
(using the 360 days-in-a-year thingy that WTS uses)
120 x 360 = 43200 days, then a day-for-a-year means 43080 years past 2034.
Basically, what I say is that I can come up with anything I like, but examples like
this above are bad because that gives thousands of years to this system. When the time
comes (after 2034), I will use a different method to show that the end is right around the corner.
If she got her block knocked off, you think it'll be the soceity who'll pick up the bill?
They'd use her example at an assembly and say that she was doing fine work for the organization...
"The Great Tribulation is near" translates into, "You'all come back now, ya'hear?" Eveybodys leaving because this generation could be two hundred years in length. Why cry with the saints when you can laugh with the sinners?
With no one to Govern, the Governing Body is just a "No" body....
W.Once
Edited for crappy spelling.
They'd use her example at an assembly and say that she was doing fine work for the organization...
Great....then I'll send them the bill and let them demonstrate some of tht "love" they like to talk so much about having amongst themselves.
But wasn't it "Near" in the first century ???
It's hard to argue with words like "near" and "soon" when someone quotes them and they could mean thousands of years.
