Well we just got done going through a witch hunt to find any grounds to disfellowship us, other than the UN material we have passed out to others. They tried to get us to confess to anything. So if they do snoop around this site they have done a piss poor job at finding people. Yes that’s my real name and several times I have given my hometown, cong, and phone number. There snoopers in the IT dept must be pre-occupied surfing porn.

Sorry to break it to you, but as someone who is employed in the network security field, I can assure you there is no such thing as a "fool-proof" system. The closest thing to it is a locked down system that is disconnected from any network and locked in a vault.

If you are connected to the internet, someone with sufficient expertise and enough motivation can penetrate your computer. The best you can do is make it very difficult, so that the reward does not justify the effort for the hacker.

All it takes is a small lie to most ISPs to get the name of the person. And if it is a small town, local ISP they can zero in very quickly. AOLers are pretty safe, when it comes to that.

There is no (easy automated) way, if someone has embedded an ip-tracking image in this page say, to tell who is a poster and who is just reading the page, and it's certainly not possible to tell that skeptic2 is this ip address and so-and-so is that ip address.

Umm, that's incorrect. Would you like me to start a thread to prove it? A while back, I showed in a thread that it is entirely possible to track a particular person's IP address. In fact, reply to this post and I'll give you your IP address in a PM.

It is disingenuous to say that someone cannot be tracked on this board. It is a fact that they can. Most posters could even be narrowed down to a specific city in which they live via their IP address. If that scares some people, then you need to look into using a proxy to surf this site.
