What Factors led you to Write your Letter of Disassociation?

What Factors led you to Write your Letter of Disassociation?

Quite a number of disassociation letters can be found
on the internet. Some are lengthy, others get right to
the point, and still others share emotional content.

Personally, it was the United Nations scandal that
served as the primary factor for disfellowshiping
the Watchtower Society from my personal life.

My letter was a straightforward "brass knuckles"
approach; there were no sweet words or loving
expressions to consider, let alone write about.

What about your own disassociation letter?

A number of letters contain loving expressions,
    sorrows, and apologies.

And this leads to the question "What factors led
you to write your letter of disassociation and in
what style did you write it in" ?

Please post your comments so that all may learn.

    Respectfully,

    The Wanderer

Mine was on the 'drawing board' for the past three years. Finally, cornered and accused of apostasy, it was that or the DF rope. Both have a similar texture, but the DA rope let's one pull his own switch.

In my case it was the UN scandal and the pedophilia issues at the forefront.

Mine can be read at; http://jwfacts.com/experiences/akjeff.htm

In fact - you will be reading it before he elders do if you chose - their copy set to be delivered Sunday.

was an elder and didnt want any ambiguity as to why I was leaving.

I got to say what I wanted (whether they read it or not)

say good bye to those men I'd would prolly never talk to again

public printed declaration that I was no longer part of a pedo hiding, murdering, buncha fleecers

It was the research I'd done about the org after starting to feel doubts that led me to write my letter. We had a child abuse case in our kh, and it seemed to me that the elders policy was to protect the perpetrator rather than help the victims, his 4 daughters. It seemed such an unloving way to behave, and I started to look at wts teachings and policies independent of their publications. It was soon obvious to me a lot of their teachings were man made, with no basis in scripture, so I decided to leave,

As for my da letter, that was short and to the point. I didn't go into a lot of reasons, just stating that I no longer believed that jws have the truth, and I no longer wanted to be one.

Wanderer..I was not disfellowshipped nor did I D/A myself..I just walked away..I would never give the bastards a D/A letter,Never!..As far as I`m concerned a D/A letter shows them they still have control over you..It gives them something to say about you from the platform..I gave them nothing..I still see JW`s from time to time,no one bothers me...OUTLAW

    There were three things really:

    1. The way my husband treated me
    2. The way the elders treated me
    3. I felt I could not longer live to Jehovah's standards and by the jw rules and was not prepared to be miserable for the rest of my life trying

My disassociation letter was quite simple - it is pointless trying to reason with a brainwashed cult although I didn't know that at the time

    Dear Sirs
I no longer wish to be considered at one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Please therefore amend your records.
    Yours sincerely
    solo

and off I toddled into a whole new world of freedom

The blood policy and shunning with a side portion of the the Mexico/Malawi fiasco.

There are a lot of fundamentalist faders on this site that oppose all DA'ing but I think it just depends on what your life situation is. I could just could not fade from the org; I had to sever those dip-shits from my head-space entirely.

I couldn't be happier with my decision.

    Outlaw I agree completely:

"As far as I`m concerned a D/A letter shows them they still have control over you."

That is the way I've always felt about it. I'm no longer playing their reindeer games, so they get nothing else from me.

I feel that I owe them nothing. They gave me nothing but lies and deception. I only want to be left alone and find peace in my life now. No letters from me.

Several years ago, for a variety of personal reasons, I made a decision to leave the JWs and another about how to leave. I currently believe that seeing only the DF, DA options at the time was a remnant of JW thinking, living life by WTS rules or governance as it were. I also see it as less important how you leave, (fade, DF, DA, etc) but that you do, however it plays out. There are pros and cons to every eventuality. Call it whatever you want. Make as many lists of reasons as you need. Act superior and label others that don't do it your way if that's what you need to do. Or do it all wrong and learn from it. Do whatever it takes for you to have the peace, closure, happiness or freedom you need (or whatever else it is you are after).
