I found a snippit about the internet in the June 15,2002 WT, page 15. In a box at the top of the page was this note, titled, "In Our Hands". "If we want...a concordance to the Bible, we can find no better medium than the Internet..." This was in an article of the value of study. So the internet can be good?

They could get all of the westernized internet using JWs to buy the cd/computer/internet service, but the nice JWs would probably pay the money and make sure to not use the stuff. How many things do we sign up form pay monthly for and don't use? Many of us have a few of those-from mag. subscriptions to extras in our utilities/services that we never use (HBO anyone??) They will gladly pay to support the org, then ignore it as they found out how limiting is is (even those w/o major double lives would be often frustrated by such a service) But I am sure the WT will come up with that one soon-its the next step as the internet is taking over, and books of information are increasingly becoming more obsolete(never totally, but reference and study info is all over the net now) Can't you see the WT folks handing out CDs with a brochure or something?? The magazines will soon be obsolete in the US, imo.

Maybe they wouldn't block all the sites, but the embedded spyware would notify Brooklyn of the visit to the forbidden site. Then they could d-f the offenders, if the elders get a confession out of the brother or sister later.

They are shrinking fast enough already, if the had to DF everyone that went places they should not on the internet, the entire western world would soon be kicked out. . .of course then Brooklyn(the 3 guys left that ran the computer division) would then have effective ownership over hundreds of millions of dollars -probably billions of property that would then need to be sold. . .THEN we would find out who has a legal right to the property owned by the org. . .probably whoever can put up with that crap the longest.

I figured if they lost the money to pay for the new printing facility then online would work out for them myself. Why waste all that time and money avoiding taxas and court costs when the web is sitting there ? You get you an I-pod or a laptop and you are one saaaawinging dubby.

but they could have a adult JW internet filter. or something like that. Just blocks porn, apostacy sites, selective news, science, education, false religion, big bad world of business, games and fun, chatrooms, newsservers, mail from non approved JWs, google, and probably a lot more!

Not that it will ever happen but there is every chance of them including some kinda rootkit with the Watchtower CD Rom just so that it reports keystrokes to an e-mail/server but that would need to get around good firewalls and not be detectable...unless it was disguised as something else, and the dubs were told it did something else and they'd give it access to the tinternet.

Those 6m witnesses are largely made up of children and old people so I doubt there would be *that* much demand. ie. the number of actual internest connections would be a subset of the number of families / households which would be quite small.
Also, it wouldn't wash with their message that the internet is evil and they would probably be afraid that they could be identified online (like AOL newbie fodder) and targetted by evil aposta-hackers or something.
