Is the United Nations still the Antichrist??? Dec 1st Watchtower!

According to the December 1st Watchtower, the Antichrist is:

' "Antichrist" means "against (or instead of) Christ." So, in its broadest sense, the term refers tol all who oppose or lyingly claim to be the Christ or his representatives. Jesus himself said: "He that is not on my side is against me (or antichrist), and he that does not gather with me scatters."

However, in this article there is a boxed pictured section. It shows Knights being blessed by priests, Kings dalying with an immoral woman and an interesting little snippet of info from the WTBTS claiming that any one saying:

    'A DECEIVER WITH MANY FACES'

The word 'antichrist' applies to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organization, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the rold of Messiah by presumtuously promising to achieve that which only christ can do - bring about true peace and security.'

Is this a sideways dig at the 'unnamed in this article' UNITED NATIONS!!!????

My understanding was that the WTBTS is still an NGO, though very sneakily. Is that why they dare not say 'United Nations?'

To my knowledge the WTS has never specifically mentioned the UN as the 'antiChrist' or part therof. I think the WTS is afraid to come down on this matter. They have always been very vague as I recall. They do avoid the UN in the literature more often now than before, and with the way they have been 'outed' on the UN thing, no wonder.

They have reason to be gun shy on this - look at their record on the King of the North for example, or even the superior authorities.

Basically I think they believe that everyone except them are the AntiChrist.

In the mid-50's, the WTS called the UN "an antichrist" but not the "Antichrist." Today's WTS identifies the Antichrist with the "man of lawlessness" which they teach is false religion and its leaders.

    *** w81 5/1 p. 14 par. 9 Which Organization-Jehovah's or Satan's? ***

From those words it is evident that the antichrist, the apostate man of lawlessness, "the mystery of this lawlessness," is Satan's masterpiece in the form of an organization. It is an imitation of organized Christianity and so an opposer of it. As a replacement of true organized Christianity, it finds its expression in present-day Christendom, this name meaning the realm of Christianity. That is certainly a deceptive name, for Christendom is really the most powerful part of Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, under the emperorship of Satan the Devil.

Actually, now the WTS considers the Antichrist a composite of all individuals and organizations that oppose Christ including:

    Governments

    Non-JW religious organizations and individuals

    "Apostate" JWs

    *** w55 6/15 pp. 359-360 Identifying the Antichrist ***

Not that the spirit of antichrist is limited to Communist lands, for, even as Jesus foretold, his followers today are being hated by all nations. In fact, what is true of communism's being the antichrist is also true of the United Nations. It also, even as was its predecessor, the League of Nations, is being given a Messianic role to play by the clergy of Christendom, as the world's savior, its only hope and the only light, whereas the Bible plainly shows that in Christ shall the nations hope and that he is mankind's Savior and the Light of the world. The United Nations therefore also is an antichrist.

Jesus referred to this scheme of modern man in his great prophecy as "the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place." It is disgusting in God's sight because all that is "lofty among men is a disgusting thing in God's sight." In that it presumes to stand in the place that should be occupied by God's kingdom it stands in a holy place where it ought not to stand. Truly it also is an antichrist.-Matt. 24:15, 16, NW.

According to the Insight book the anti christ are those that do not accept Jesus as the son of God pg 115 vol 1 and that it is not neccessarily any one individual or group, however pg 116 par 2,3, & 4 state that groups make up a part of the anti christ including apostates, kingdoms nations and organizations. So my take on this is if you are not a true dub you ARE THE ANTICHRIST. I wonder what God thinks of all this.

We can always count on Blondie to find those articles we think don't exist...thanks Blondie. The latest tract, The End of False Religion Is Nesr, page 3 shows the wild beast, mentions the world's political powers, but neglects to specifically say the beast is the UN, as they have in the past. I think they are being careful who they point fingers at.

    Thabnks all!

I thought it was interesting that they claimed a sign of an antichrist was that they claimed they could bring '....Peace and Security!' which is an aim of course, of the UN. So, I think that may have been a mealy mouthed side swipe at the UN, without mentioning it by name.
