I have an untreatable addiction. That's why I'm here.
Are you really free from the Watchtower?

No. And I doubt I ever will be. Provided I am successful at breaking out myself (something that is still up in the air) I plan on donating time in the future to helping others get free.

I broke free from the WT about 10 years ago. However, that was about the same time the internet got fast and colorful. Since then I have been stuck online, and went from 6 foot 2 and 180 LBS to 250. Although I do about 20 pushups a day so I don't end up looking like Cartman.

If a recovering alcoholic hasn't had a drink for 20 years, and still goes to AA meetings is she/he free. (put any addiction in here)
If a rape/child abuse/domestic abuse survivor still goes to support groups or even speaks to groups about it, although it happened 20 years ago, is she/he free.
If a parent has a child abducted and murdered, but still participates on a TV show that helps find other children that have been abducted, are they not free?

I don't agree. I go through jags when I am having a hard time with my mom(frustration!) and need to be around others who understand-my sis never really was invested in the org, and my mom doesn't relate to her the same way as me-plus, my sister is long distance, and this site is free for me to visit! And after a while, I will get busy and distracted and wander off. . .but it is nice to know I can come back here for a booster of simpatico.

Uh, hasn't this general question been hashed and rehashed at least twice in the past month or so? It has been discussed ad nauseum in threads called "Move on?" and 'When will exJWs/apostates get on with their lives" (something like that).

Every subject here is discussed ad nauseum. . .just depends on who is reading it and what kind of day they are having if they start or respond to it. :)

As time went on, i've spent less and less time on the boards. I get these brief stints when i'm on here at least once a day, but then back to once a week or a month. I guess it will be one of those things that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

I honestly think anyone that spends more than half an hour per day on anti-JW sites like this is, psychologically, not out of the organisation at all, despite their best protests.
Well thank God we've got you to set the standard for the rest of us.
Well put Blondie, as usual.

"Whom shall we go away to"?
All our family and friends are witnesses. We need an outlet for our thoughts and feelings. This board provides just that. I've looked at many other sites and they are either too militant, religious, or just plain creepy(E-Watchman).
Also, "free" is a relative concept. It comes in degrees. I for one will always be tied to the witnesses. After 47 years I have no choice in the matter. We are all on a journey and ths site helps us along the way.
