Hawk? Seeker? It's good to see that I'm not the only nutcase around here. This whole thing has looked a little too neat to me, and unlike my neighbors, I don't have the slightest urge to run out and buy a copy of Old Glory. Don't have a lot of company in my neighborhood, tho.

    peace,

I am not suprised at the "news" coverage. As Seeker correctly pointed out, the major news media in the U.S. are owned by the same large coporations which fund (own) the Republican and Democratic parties. In "Manufacturing Consent" Noam Chomsky described the way the U.S. media work together with their corporate owners to tell only one side of the story. One of the greatest achievements of the American ruling class is to convince Americans that they do not have propaganda in their country.

The goal of the coming war? Public support for an ongoing campaign against those whom the U.S. declares "terrorists", while the U.S. continues to support repressive dictatorships and terrorists who support U.S. foreign policy objectives. This has nothing to do with "freedom" or democracy.

I'm left speechless by the absolute perfection of your appraisal of the roots of the current 'crisis.'

Bush declares the coming bloodshed as a "war for democracy." I'm surprised at the ceaseless stupidity of Americans to soak up bullshit like this as easily as they've done thus far. "Terrorists" are the stated target, but I doubt that it would bother western powers much if one of it's enemies who wasn't technically a terrorist ended up dead nevertheless. "Ooops! We killed him by mistake. Collateral damage."

    peace,

: Did anyone else notice his use of the word "terror". He said terrorists in his usual southern way, but he seemed to invoke a Kennedy-ian accent whenever he said "terra" instead of terror and in naming Bin Laden's organization.

Maybe Dubya learned that trick from his old man. Do you remember in the Gulf war when George keep calling Hussein SAD'-am, instead of Sad-AHM'? I thought it must be some gentrified pronunciation, or maybe everyone else who was using his name got the pronunciation wrong.

Not at all. George Bush used that wrong pronunciation all the time ON PURPOSE. The way he pronounced it meant "shoe shine boy" in the Iraqi tongue! Must have pissed off Sadly Insane big time! George Bush was pretty clever there!

    This thread is very interesting.

You guys who say this action has nothing to do with democracy:
If you are right, we are still left with the fact that America was attacked...so what do you think America should do?

Serious question from a person trying to think this thing through,

Defend itself and attack the terrorists who committed this crime. Nothing should take away from the fact that what happened last week was horrible. It is a given that those who committed this crime did so against humanity itself, and should be punished.

All the more paranoid among us are saying is that it may also give them the opportunity to take care of a bunch of other political enemies at the same time, all under the cover of a War on Terrorism. That's the part that has nothing to do with freedom or democracy, not the part about bringing to justice those criminals who attacked the WTC and Pentagon.

    Seeker,

Thanks for the response. I can agree with it, too. I guess you can count me among the paranoid.

Hi Seeker: Thanks for the good words and recognition of President Bush. Maybe this is one of those times in US history where we need his style for such an event. Our nation has been lucky to have good leaders at critical junctures.

I also have to admit, although it pains me, that I am not impressed with the name of the operation: Infinite Justice. I hope that Bush did not choose that title, but if he did then I have to admit it sounds rather corney.

All in all, though, I think Bush has risen to the ocassion, and is thus far doing the right things, saying the right things, and acting in a good time frame. Thanks. - Amazing

Now it does not surprise me.

I almost had the change to met him when he was in Tampa, FL at Raymond James Stadium Sunday before the election.

I went to Bush rally and was in the thrid row from the front in the middle. I stood there since 1:30 in the afternoon, by then about 2,000 was already present.

Well they were looking for Women to sit behind him at the rally. I was asked to go on stage. I was not disappointed. since he had to leave qucikly, I did not get to meet him personally. We were all suppose to meet him, but I just missed my chance.

To watch him speak to the crowd from behind him on the stage was an experice. You mostly see the sound bites on TV, but to watch Bush in person, you can see how powerful of a true motivator he is. The Liberal press just hates him, and I am glad they underestimate him. Just hink, I was standing behind the Bush Brothers (Jeb who is the Gov. of Fl, Norman Swartzcoff, Willie Nelson JR(Got his autograph on my ticket), Bo Dereck (yes, she looks that good in person) and Wayne Newton.

I am just thankful to Jehovah that Al Gore did not make it as President! Can you imagine how he would react?
