Having pretty well dominated this thread since it started, I kinda think I'll have to watch it now!

What time is it on? I'm not missing my Star Trek reruns for anything!

Just a thought, folks, about the "we were here first" train of thought applying to the aboriginals.

Remember they were migrants too, having come to this vast continent long ago, so I have trouble saying it's anyone's land. The past is the past, it's what we do now that's important.

How did it feel, being in such vast, unpopulated country, Leolaia? I've had friends from England tell me that you can drive virtually anywhere in Britain, and there'll always be at least a house or two around somewhere, within visual range. And then they find themselves surrounded by the sorts of vistas shown in your photos... What was it like for you?

It was indeed very sparsely populated, no doubt there were times when we were the only people for many miles around. And yet it didn't hit me as much as it should because we covered hundreds of miles each day (aside from the days in which we stayed at a place for a while), and we always had a place to go to in the evening. We were fully prepared for the isolation tho, with a satellite beacon, and satellite phone, and GPS, etc. but it just didn't feel as isolated as it should have. After all, the roads authority kept the main thoroughfares VERY WELL maintained. The vistas were amazing and real refreshing since for days the view on the long drive had been mostly the same where ever we went.
