The Abuse Never Seems to Stop !!!

There is yet another case of child abuse. This time it is in New York, where a JW man was convicted of multiple felony counts of attempted molestation young boys. Yes, the Watchtower Society of Jehovah's Witnesses does have a serious problem that is not going away. Every time I see these stories, I lose more and more sympathy for any aspect of their religion ... or should we say publishing corporation. At least the "world" as JWs like to call them, do bring about justice, and it seems just in time to prevent the crime from becoming worse.

Goshen — Jesus Cano intended to have sex with a boy. And he intended to take naked pictures of the boy. Yesterday, Orange County Judge Jeffrey Berry convicted Cano of two felonies and three misdemeanors for committing those crimes. Cano, 50, is a Mexican-born member of the Jehovah's Witnesses who was caught on June 24 trying to lure teenage boys in Middletown.

When witnesses ask me what I think, I don't give em the usual "How terrible for Jehovah's name" response.

I just say "Good!, witness or non-witness that perv deserves what's coming to him"

They usually follow with something about how bad a witness it is.

JWs are obsessed with how we look to the world, yet we're supposed to be no part of it.

    Jesus was disfellowshipped

Actually, that's the perfect headline - perhaps not for this item, but it could come in handy sometime:

    "JWs Disfellowship Jesus"

    I'd read that story!

This is the major problem with how the WTS teaches the JWs to view disgustingly sinful behaviors such as child molestation and pedophelia within their congregations. The entire slant is a different take than it should be.

It is about time that the JWs come to terms with the fact that their precious Watchtower Society IS no different nor any better than the rest of society, and that includes the "other churches" they so condemn and claim they are "above" in behavior and in their standing before God.

You know, if the Governing Body had any brain cells working at all, they should have realized that this problem would have eventually caught up to them. The main problem I see isn't just that child molestation is happening within the Organization (as this probably goes on in a lot of organizations), but it's their reaction to it.

If the Governing Body had been as determined to rid the congregations of pedophiles as what they are people who smoke or buy lottery tickets, they would have never gotten the damaging publicity that they did from Dateline, 20/20 or the Fifth Estate. If they had made the rule that "...any time a report of child molestation is brought to the elders attention, the authorites should be contacted immediately" and "If the person is found guilty, they should be immediately disfellowshipped from the Christian congregation" then this might have actually earned the WTS some respect from 'worldly' people. It would send the message out that "...we don't tolerate pedophiles..." To ignore that this is happening, is just ridiculous on their part. You've got imperfect people making up the religion so naturally you're going to have some serious problems. Pretending that they don't have these problems is just sticking your head in the sand.

    Exactly.

This would be a visible demonstration to show they really do not tolerate this aberrant behavior within their ranks and prove they are as determined to "remain spotless" as they like to claim (and like to have others think). This "hiding behind their reputation" approach is only adding to the world's disgust and it's derision of the WTS, and justifiably so.

A word to the wise should be sufficient----but the "wise" ones who run the WTS are to haughty and arrogant to acknowledge how extremely foolish they are and how they appear to all others on the world scene. As the old saying goes---the ONLY ones they are fooling is themselves.

I found your headline sensationalist and a bit too tabloid for me.There clearly is abuse problems in the JW,s but to suggest they are actively promoting paedophilia and cover ups is ridiculous imo.I think the poster who said the following summed it up the best.

"if the Governing Body had any brain cells working at all" they do have brain cells but they use them to weave webs of deception and to promote a commercial enterprise under the guise of religion. But with the pedophiles they should have a tougher policy, what they have now amounts to a strange protection for these people.
