When calling around for a therapist, they are happy to answer questions regarding their background and expertise.

Former Witnesses don't have any unique problems. Pick any good counselor and give em a couple sessions. Our experiences may be different but the problems and the way we deal with them is all textbook stuff. The cause isn't as important as the problem and the solution.

Any time a human being cuts himself or herself away from a thought system, it's easy for a vacuum to form; and with it, depression and lack of direction. Stay in touch with significant others, especially Jehovah Himself. Just because the Society became corrupted doesn't mean, God became corrupted. We merely join with the Diaspora, and move on. : ) Chai

Congratulations on your decision to seek help. Please be careful of leaving one high control group for another. Some of the de-culting groups that advertise are sponsored by and advocate for other churches. Their form of salvation is another high control christian group. If thats what you want so be it, but you should be aware that not all are without a hidden agenda.

    Blessings,

    Sherry
