How does a person tell between their thoughts and if God is communicating?

When my son was four years old, I placed him in daycare for a short while when I worked. One day at work, an overwhelming sense that something terrible had happened to my son came over me. I "just knew" something awful was going on. It was such an urgent and insistent sensation that I immediately left work and rushed over to the daycare center. I found my son peacefully napping with the other children. The caregivers told me that nothing out of the ordinary had happened that day. It was routine in every respect.

That day taught me that feelings, thoughts, impulses, etc., can arise from very ordinary sources -- hormones, suggestion, illness. To tell someone you know God communicates with you because you "just know" is very unconvincing, to say the least.

If God is communicating with a person, the person should seek help. Their brain is not functioning properly. The entire notion is silly.

Here's a good rule of thumb:

If you hear voices in your head, it's ALL YOU!

I feel that God has finished giving us his personal instructions to humans some 2000 years ago and the only way we can know what and how he thinks is by reading the scriptures. Obviously The Christ changed the Old Testment way of worship towards our Father in a very radical kind of way. Holy Spirit is suppose to help us with that understanding. I don't know how Holy Spirit works...I know it doesn't speak out loud with a voice because I haven't heard a voice come from no where to speak to me. Except on the subway when I hear "Next stop will be Times Square"

I wasn't talking about hearing voices...I was talking about thoughts and questions that arise during the day.

How did God comunicate with the prophets?

Same rule applies. Voices or not, it is still coming from within the person.

What research did you do to come to that conclusion or guess? Can you let me know so I can check it out for myself?

I am not one to follow guesses nor accept them as fact without proof...no matter how nice of a suit and tie they have on.

I am simply blown away how my mother would die if these people told her to..and will do anything they say. Then when I tell her all the things I have learned on the net...she says she won't read them, because they are "demons" and her choosen means of communication with God told her it was "evil".

Yet I asked her once how she could say such a thing without researching to come to her own conclusion and make her own judgement? No reponse.

Are we created to settle for others guesses...or look for answers not settling until we find them?

Can a guess overpower an answer? Can a answer be intimidated or silenced by a guess if millions agree with it?

I am really confused on this whole guess/answer thing.

Hey...a thought just came to me...

All you people saying God does not communicate with a human...How was the bible written then?

How did Paul and them know their thoughts from what God was telling him to say and write?

That would be a scary job....there had to be some way to discern one from the other...or you would have had Paul's opinions, desires, and rules presented as God's by mistake. (Sound familar?)

Although some consider this "mistake" a "victory" and road to great power and control.

Why does my mother think that faith in the FDS and their guesses/religion is the same as faith in God? Is their power that strong over their people?

This is like asking a person to judge whether or not they are smart or have a sense of humor.

If you deeply DESIRE something you will always find a way for it to be true. Your mind is interpretive more than objectively analytical.

Is God so miniscule, so insignificant, so vanishingly insubstantial that such a question could ever be asked?

    Yes!

You'd think the most brilliant mind and being in the entire universe would be the one thing impossible to overlook due to the superlative and transcendantly inescapable obviousness. Yet, such is not the case.

Somewhere in the dark recesses of our human brain lurks an overwhelmingly intense desire for escape from death. We have projected a rescuer out onto the screen of our mind and named it GOD. God is the pearl we've built around the grain of sand which irritates our mortality oyster-like in our flight from death and corruption.

When we are praying we are talking to ourselves. That is why God never does anything more than we ourselves.

If that scares you it proves that God and Fear are identical.
