Enjoyable posts..When I wrote that I was thinking about our lives as JW`s..We never got to be ourselves..Out in the service, off to meetings..Never a moment for ourselves...When you don`t have time for yourself, how can you know yourself?...OUTLAW

If you don't take time out for yourself, it's very difficult to get to know your true self because its voice will always be crowded out by 'things'.

You have to learn to listen to what your inner self is 'saying'. Then you can work out who you are and where you're going.

Why do you want to find it. ThereĀ“s no need to go looking. It's right there and stares at you in the mirror.

No doubt you have some behavior that is influenced by others: parents, social environment, etc. But you know what you like? Do you like french fried? With mayonaise and curry and onions? How about other stuff to eat. Like a famous German once said: Der Mensch ist was er isst.

This will not immediately solve an identity crisis but gives you some concept of a start. If you want to live you need to eat....So, from there take it one step further: ask your self: what would I like to eat. How would I need to cook it? It gives you some concept about what you will become. And then take it from there.

Approached from a buddhist point of view I would be inclined to say that you are not far from enlightment, my friend. You only have to release yourself from that need for an ego.

    cheers

I remember once talking with a psychiatrist and he asked what my hopes and dreams were ....I had none past the simple get married have children . I tried explaining to him what it was like growing up as a JW , and he could not understand , he thought my lack of desire for college and experimenting was all linked to depression . It is still an on going process learning who I really am what I truly want . This past year I have tried on many different things to see what fits and what doesn't and it's all been very interesting .

Parrakeet..It`s not that your lost..It`s that you never had the chance to discover who you are..You find out how you feel about life, not what your told to feel about life.....Borgeia..I enjoy the Buddhist point of view..I have read alot..I have spent much time in the wilderness,I am here now..It allows you to re-define the world around you..I agree, taking the time to appreciate and being observant of every moment you live and action you take, will bring you closer to enlightenment..Closer to finding the real you...OUTLAW
