My conscience used to kill me for everything too, especially the meetings. What I can tell you is it was a long process for me not to feel guilty.
I don't know if you can tell him anything. He has to do it himself.

He obviously still believes that the KH represents God's only organization. If not he would not feel he was sinning just by not attending meetings. It can take years for people to break away fully from the Wt's hold on them mentally.
I feel sorry for him. You may want to ask him what "sin" he thinks he is committing? Try to draw him out but you will most likely see that he still feels it is God's org. There are many in my area that do not attend meetings any more but still refuse to speak to me or my hubby as we are "known" apostates. They are inactive and say they are not going back but do not want to be DF'd or DA'd. Maybe they feel they can go back later on?
In the context of that text in Hebrews it is talking about sins that go against bible principles and as far as I know even though the Apostle Paul said not to "forsake", meaning totally give up Christian association, it was not a sin to not associate with other Christians. So even if he believes the KH represents God's organization, he would not be sinning by not attending the meetings regardless what the WT or the "elders" say.
To truly break the hold the WT has on people, something has to happen to get the person to see that the WT is just like any other organization and that they are not God's ONLY representative. Look on Randy's site www.freeminds.org and I am sure you can find some articles that may help your friend. Peace be with you, you are a good friend in trying to help, Lilly
First.....we would have to find an undisputable answer to what "sin" is to God..not other men's guesses as to what it is.....then see who is still wanting to do it....
Whatever it may be....
Who is the only one who hold the answer to that?
Do you want my guesses if I present them to you as undisputable facts? What good would they do for you if I am wrong? In the Supreme Authority's eyes and opinion? would my judgement and guess mean anything in THAT court?
Basically...you can try to be "right" in my eyes or "court"...but it will not do you any good in my Boss's eyes or "court". So why waste your time trying to live up to my expectations?
Yeah right. look at 24 and 25 and the context. It is talking about jewish sacrifices being so important to some jeweish christians that they forsake the gathering of themselves...........what assembly could be so important that they risked out to be left without sacrifce?.....
......the WT study at sundays? ..........no!....
......surely it must be the bookstudy?...hardly!..
What is the most important meeting to a christian? ......the TBS and the service meeting then....Nope!....
.......................................................
right: the memorial......
Applying episunagogai to a REGULAR or just A religious meeting (sunagogai) to me is totally missing the point. Paul was talking about THE religious meeting, the most exalted gathering, whether or not that was held every week is not the subject here. And that meeting, according to the context had to do with sacrifice.....ergo: Memorial.
Your friend does not need to have any conscience problems here.

Willing to sacrifice yourself for the protection of your weaker siblings against evenHim if nessesary. Could just be the "sacrifice"to end all sacrifices in His eyes and court anyway.
I am under the opinion that he would like us to protect others rather then judge and condemn them.
Do you want your older children judging and condemning the weaker younger ones?
Would you be proud of them if they did this?
Or ashamed?
As lovelylil mentions, he probably still feels that this is God's organization. I really feel that it is very important for people to investigate the claims of the Society. If they don't the programming eventually takes over and they end up conflicted, undecided, oscillating between activity and inactivity and generally still feeling miserable and guilty.
firstly,
how can he be willfully sinning, hes still worrying about pleasing God.Secondly his sins have been forgiven in Jesus Christs shed blood ( ask him to find a scripture that teaches otherwise - in fact hebrews confirms this ).And finally i would ask him to read chapter 26 through to 38 , these scriptures are concerned with ignoring Jesus sacrifice ( which your friend hasnt ),35 - do not throw away your freeness of speech ( ask him if he truly has this in "the truth" )38 live by reason of FAITH not endless hopes in mans prophecy that armageddon is around the corner, thats not faith thats fear.
God bless you and yours
Ade
Ask your friend who they think they are sinning against? If it is the Watchtower or God? Perhaps get him to think and pause.
I am really amazed that the subject of Heb 10 hasn't just been ripped on this forum. I may be wrong but I don't think that I've ever been at a KH where Heb 10:24-25 hasn't been mentioned. Going to meetings is the glue that holds the power for the society. If you're not at meetings there's not much the hounders can do to keep you in their control. I also don't think I've ever heard Heb 10:26-29 ever discussed at a KH. The question is what do Heb 10:24-25 have to do with Heb 10:26-29? Is it about going to meetings for the sake of going to meetings or is it something else. I think it's something else, having to do with the Memorial and not making it a stick to hit people over the head with to keep them coming to meetings, preparing for meetings and traveling to meetings as many times as they say you're supposed to be at meetings that you're supposed to assume comes from God himself.
