We're wondering whether sometime last month, a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses might have visited the home of Sheik Taj el-Din al-Hilaly, because we've been reading some fascinatingly familiar remarks in a pamphlet headed "The End of False Religion Is Near!'' that was slipped under this column's door recently. You'll recall that the Sheik compared scantily dressed women to pieces of meat left uncovered and at risk of being eaten by cats. Our eye was caught by an illustration on the Jehovah's Witness pamphlet which appears to show a cat eating an uncovered woman. Here's what the pamphlet says: "Picture the scene. A harlot is sitting on the back of a fearsome beast. The beast has seven heads and ten horns (Revelation 17:14) ... False religion straddles the back of this political beast, attempting to influence its decisions and to control its direction ... Soon, though, an amazing event will take place. 'The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.' (Revelation 17:17).'' So Islam is not the only faith to draw on vigorous imagery to expound its message. We welcome your comments Posted by Stay in touch

zico,
The job did not work out unfortunatley. The lady I was supposed to care for was sicker than her family thought. Anyway, she winded up being hospitalized and will probably go to a nursing home. I have some other work coming up soon. I work per-diem for an assisted living and fill in during the holidays. I work overnight shift and usually make really good money. I'm looking forward to it this year as we are doing xmas. My hubby agreed and I am really excited about it. Since my daughter is in the process of getting braces ($5,500 cost not covered by insurance), I can sure use extra cash for the holiday. Nice hearing from you, Lilly
How many congregations are there in the UK? How many JWs? And only 50 sent in requests for Bible studies.
Upon followup, how many will actually study? How many will continue after one or 2 visits? How many will become JWs? How many hours each year per baptized publisher does it take?
If it is such a great technique, why not mail tracts to every household in the area since very little contact or talking with the indivdual is encouraged by the WTS?

Postage costs money. The dubs will freely give gas, time, energy, and even sacrifice thier family to participate. They get the tract out and the publishers get deeper entrenched.

And finally, the SO had an 'experience' where he met a former priest, who left his religion because of the lack of love, and is 'very interested in finding out more about the love in our organisation' He's in for a disappointment...
"It may not happen overnight, but it will happen!"
A population of 60 million in the UK, so yes, 50 is actually rubbish, though a few more will request studies between now and the end, but not enough to make that a decent figure when you break it down.
I remember that after distributing kn34 in 2005 there was also a three-digit number communicated for Germany, people asking for a "Bible Study". Our PO (former Special Pioneer with connection to the Branch Office) told me that most of them were not real, like people sending JW to their neighbors they had an axe to grind with.

I know JWs who do letter writing and send out tracts. They pay the postage not the congregation. I can see JWs who would willingly pay the postage, even working out an arrangement with the post office to pay less with volume.
