Well, the military bases were off limits (air force/army right next to each other) unless you were crafty enough to score a visitor's pass from some military spouse and discreetly do a few houses until the MP were called.
The Territories we were Banned from Preaching

Years ago, if there was a gated community, there seemed to always be someone (a jw) that knew someone that lived in it. They would exploit that person as a way in. They'd hit and miss a few random houses before security got wise.

Not so much as being banned but no longer being able to get into blocks of apartments.
On a housing estate that was part of our territory we had blocks consisting of 8 to 12 apartments. Which you could just walk into and call on people.
Then about 10 years ago the local council decided to make the entrances of the blocks secure. They did this by fitting auotomatic locking doors, with intercoms at the main door, with buttons to call each apartment. So you had choose a button and if anyone answered ask for the door to be unlocked. Of course most of the time you didn'tget an answer, or if you did and they asked who you were and you said "Jehovahs Witnesses" or similar, they said no. On the odd occasion someone may let us in, or the door hadn't closed properly.
This must have taken up to 300 apartments effectively out of being called on and maybe up to a 1000 people.
This security was eventually over the years extended to all council run apartment blocks throughout the area. I have also noticed that any such apartment blocks whether council or privately own all have secure entrances. I'm sure that the local JW's have great difficulty in gaining entrance to such places.

Locally calling on houses where dangerous people live (creeps, flashers and the like) is avoided. There are very few things that can stop a determined witness though (even watchtower decrees and do-not-call lists). The only restriction I ever saw from Bethel was the ban on white JW's calling on the black servant houses at the rear of white suburban Port Moresby (but being zealous young pioneers, we ignored that anyway).
I'd heard that the Amatyville Horror involved a JW family.

I WONDER IF WT SHOULD GET ITS LAWYERS ON THE CASES WHERE JWS HAVEN'T NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS BLOCKS OF FLATS!
