I always saw it as a North American Relgion. Of which, I also put the Mormons, and Seventh Day Adventist in the same catagory. They are religions that were born from a society that was free enough to allow men and woman to step outside the acceptable religious tables of the day and create something that expressed their own views. This is still happening today, but because of things like the internet and such, it is harder for them to take root as well as the Mormons, and Witnesses did.
JW's, are they primarily a Untited States religion?

I grew up to be anti-American before it was even popular. Mostly because these christian values destroyed my youth. I curse evangelicalism that spawned from America.
Well since i have traveled the world myself and the Americans I met on my travels were pretty alright. Even lived with a few.
I would say though that some congregations are far stricter than in America, American witnesses that visited often used more profanity.
But I would have to say, that in general the religion is the persons own and you can find people everwhere that take it to the extreme.
e.g. my mother that would burn every present that a worldly person gave us becuase it had demons attached.
Or the convultions she went into after finding my playboy. Which was also reported to the elders and I ended up in a J.C. -

I know of a brother who flew to Bethel to confront the Governing Body with the research he had done on blood, when they turned him away without any interest in their wrong policy he didn't stop. He was from Beligium and the Society notified his congregation about what he did but they could not disfellowship him because of the laws in Belgium. So the GB has little control over those in other countries and less influence than they do here in the USA. I would say that is a good thing.
