Victims of Groupthink

    Here's the bad news. The members of the group can become so homgeneous in their thinking that they act as one individual rather than as distinct individuals.

    My wife commented the other night about how, as a JW, hardly anyone would call her by her name. Usually, they would just start talking and not address her by name as an individual. Anyone else experience the no-name thing?

    Groupthink is something to think about, isn't it?

    Actually I studied group think in one of my communications classes. It was really interesting. I think the consensus is group think is BAD...Cohesiveness is what leads to groupthink (now this is just what I got from my professor and textbook--not sure this is widely accepted). But Cohesiveness is good, but it can lead to Group Think--which is bad.

    Larc, thanks so much for this post, tho I knew all the aspects of Group Think, I never thought to look at religious groups with that in mind.
