I know what you mean, about the black and white photos.
He was a doll wasn't he? Black hair and eyes, because his grandmother was Native American. Made a nice mix I think.

My grandad and great grandad went to the Sommne in WW1 with the Royal Irish Fusiliers.
Grandad got gassed but survived - his dad didn't survive, he got awarded a medal posthumously.
