I think that the propagander is very powerful indeed, I wonder if we went into a pattern of all the meetings and study etc avoid looking outside of it, that we would not start to think like a JW again? I'm sure that my not doing prestudy, helped me break free of the mindset. Afterall most of us know there were area's we didnt agree with but simply had to supress, because of how our minds worked at that time.

Um.....can you explain yourself Wanderer? You're agreeing with what the Society is saying in the WT study articles??

The way I read it Mary was that despite the commentry, just by reading the literature, its was easy for Wanderer to go back to his old mindset and think it makes sense. Not that he is in actual agreement with the WTS. Thats how i saw it anyhow, based on his questions after.

Dear cyber 101: What you said was correct.

What do we VALUE more? Is it staying comfortable and out of harm's way even at the cost of others?

That is the actual real-life decision each Jehovah's Witness is facing (whether they admit it or not) when they discover their "food at the proper time" is destroying the chance for a real life.

Time spent reading false information which spreads false hope about a fictitious refuge and safe harbor is time better spent on actual fact and a better life choice.

Terry, you said the above. My thoughts-
As soon as I had determined that I knew the WTS was not teaching the truth, I became ineffective in field service, lowered my hours, and now have stopped entirely. I would imagine that most, possibly all faders are not recruiting people to the cult. As members of the borg, we learned that borg members will not listen, they will shut down on negative information. If a fader is barely participating or even a bit more than barely, he is really not doing any harm. I do agree with your points, but I also support a person's right to be selfish for his own reasons.
I go to meetings and barely participate, my comments are in harmony with my conscience. If I avoid being DF'ed, I stand a chance to help out family who are borg victims. If I get DF'ed, I will be okay, but will be preaching to deaf ears.

IMO, the best way for me to tell some people they are being poisoned is to be allow them to communicate with me. I also want to have an enjoyable life with my wife and other family, and pardon me for being that selfish. Every person does as little or as much as they want to in order to rescue people from the borg. Very few ex-JW's are spending all their free time picketing Kingdom Halls or running anti-JW websites, or writing books about the organization. They decided how much of a life they wanted. A non-believer sitting thru the mind-control sessions has just made a different decision than others.

The danger is that much of what is in the Watchtower is correct, which makes spotting whats wrong difficult.

It is like a complex mathematical equation. If only one line out of 20 steps has an error it is very hard to find, yet will lead to a completely wrong conclusion.

    Dear jwfacts:

That was a super comment. I needed
    to hear that from someone.

The mind is a mysterious force. I've been doing some research on 1975. When I read through the old books I occasionally get that same feeling of excitement again - even though I know it was complete rubbish (obviously). I get angry when I think about the mind control and manipulation.
