1 Samuel 2:6-7 "....Jehovah is a Killer and a Preserver of life, A Bringer down to She´ol, and He brings up. 7 Jehovah is an Impoverisher and an Enricher, An Abaser, also an Exalter...."
Anyone got an explanation for these scriptures?

I heard a talk with that as its theme quite a few years ago - that "evil" is technically anything unpleasant and/or destructive, but that doesn't necessarily make it "wrong" or "bad" - and that Jehovah is the author of evil.
When my Dad and I initially heard that, we were seething, but by the end of the talk we went up to the speaker to congratulate him on such an excellent talk and for "enlightening" us with such wonderful "spiritual food".

No, the talks are "outlined" not "scripted." There is quite a bit of leeway allowed in the delivery. What you heard was fairly typical: a wing nut elder going off on a tangent based on his total misunderstanding of the "research" he did in one of the Society's publication. Happens all the time.

Just put the word "ethnic" in front of "cleansing," and you've got the exact same reasoning used in Germany, Yugoslavia, Iraq, and many other places to justify wiping out unwanted segments of the population. Heil, Jehovah! -

Wow, what a ride the "faithful" are in for. Anyway, even a week ago I would have sounded out with a loud "YES," to the question, "Is God Evil?" Now, though, I don't know. I'm finally starting to make the necessary disconnect between God and the jw. I'm excited about it as I've spent so many years believing, truly believing, to the point of attempting suicide believing, that I was worthless and just converting oxygen into carbon dioxide. Now, I know that my worth has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything that spews out of the mouth of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses. :-)

Wasn't there a scripture that went something like, "woe to the one saying good is evil and evil is good." Oh darn, the governing body of hypocrites are going to have a dose of almighty whipass brought down on them. The only thing I have left to say then is, "can we buy tickets? Is this a sponsered event? Pay per view? Anything?"
