happy birthday uwishufish! Hey wanderer, I like the closing comments - about perspective and learning instead of lively. I forgot the questions! ha ha sorry. I really can't explain how I did it, but I did. I know it can be done. So not helpful, I know. But, I thought about keeping a diary and writing a Xu Explains It All! Nickelodeon show. But, uh, it was too dark and painful some days. Going through it was the only way to get to the other side and I'm so happy I put in the work. I used to journal to get stuff out, but when I read it, I ended up throwing it away or burning it. Ok, reread the ?'s. JW's and logical are only on the same line in a book of antonyms. Oil and water. And for me, it was more like separating my intellect from my inner core so that I could follow my heart and intuition to do what was in my best interest. My intellect didn't help me with the big healing, it was an impediment. As far as intellectually getting over the jw bs, In Search of Christian Freedom. Wow. Love and appreciate that guy.

Dear uwishufish:
I try and participate in the
discussions more now then in
the past; when it was recent-
ly brought to my attention by
a board member to do so.
"Too many questions."-uwishufish
It may read like questions from
readers, but there are only 2
questions.

JWs do not see/want to see the flaws in their religion because they are indoctrinated to think like children. When I realized this, after visiting lots of sites like this one, I kept reminding myself to think like an adult. It worked and is working.
Also Paul Blizzard on his website said you have to be very firm with JWs when you want to say no - that works too
Jesus Christ teaches us to think like adults. He is testable in human experience as far I'm concerned.

All JWs can see the flaws in their religion. They just cannot admit to them, recognise them, or speak about them to eachother. It is NOT allowed.
Whether it is the deepest kinds of doctrine and religious history or the most vacuous little rule that the FDS have come up with, the total BS can be sniffed out. However, the instructions 'from above' are to 'dismiss them from your mind as God will straighten it out in his own time.'
Every JW has a special little section in their brain. It starts as a little section and becomes a huge sack ful the longer they are a JW. This is all of the BS they have sniffed out and carefully pushed to the back of their minds to await God's sorting.
Of course the longer someone is a JW the bigger the space in their mind that this takes up. I find talking to a long time JW pointless. Their doubts are like a virulent cancer that has eaten away at their thinking and reasoning capacities. You may as well have a reasoned argument with a frog.
They come to the point where they have to accept unquestioningly every scrap of crap issuing from the arses of the FDS!
I believe that to a lot of long time JWs it would be catastrohic to learn the truth about 'da troof' for their mental well being.

Dear Gill:
Well said! I honestly think everyone
needs to see your commentary regard-
ing this topic of discussion.

I doubt that it is emotions that keep active dubs in the fold. After years of the mind numbing FDS propoganda, they begin to enjoy freedom FROM choice more than freedom of choice. Phrases that instantly come to their minds are: Wait on Jehovah The light will get brighter Apostasy! We are being lied about and persecuted, as Jesus foretold. Our brothers are imperfect, its no big deal JK

Have you ever written copy for newspapers? I just notice that every sentence is it's own paragraph, like newspaper copy.

Cognitive Dissonance.
No one wants to admit they were foolish enough to devote their lives to a lie. It takes a major crisis of conscience to think leaving would actually be better than staying.
