hey, start your own topic!!!
I think this was more common in the past, then now. As woman did not always work and often had more time to do things with religion, like a hobby. While the men worked and came home and wanted to just take it easy, and not be distracted. Now that woman work as much as men, they do not have as much time as they used too and thus I see both men and woman showing a lack of interest for religion equally.
My my skully! Tis on topic! Oh, did I touch a nerve? Sorry!
Think about it! Vimens seem to have needs in common! Only WW works better than the WT.

Did anyone actually look at the stats???
I found an article last week that clearly said that in a survey in the U.S. in 2003 (?) that jehovahs witness is 71% female.... thats amazing and great picking for the boys!
But what does it actually mean... there were not any other of the 20 or so mainstream religions represented in the survey that even came close to this differentiation.
71% is a huge proportion to be female, maybe one day they wont be able to breed if this trend continues, which will mean 1 of two things,
1 the society will change its view on homosexuality HA HA or;
2 the JW's will eventually collapse and cease to be a liegitamite cause in society as there will be no more progeny as they cant breed females with females HA HA AGAIN
My thoughts
Mr phishy!
MrPhishy:Or they'll become polygamous, like the Mormons tried
Scully:That's the wonder of VVs. They could be virgins again and again and again...
I don’t have exact statistical figures on percentage of sexes in any religion. But if it is the true then there may be many reasons, but I believe that main reasons go deep into core differences between men and women. Most men don’t think too deeply about life, certainly not beyond things that are classed as caring for necessities of life. Which would be money, house, vacation, beer, food, sex, etc.
Women on the other hand are more likely to search for meaning; they want to feel something greater than themselves hence not surprising they end up in such religion that offers answers.
Of course, this is just a crude assessment; whenever I drive by any church on Sunday morning I see families, i.e. equal number of men and women. So I’m not too sure about that one yet.

I'm not too sure of the accuracy of this statement, given the number of male philosophers
Maybe Scully's favourite, "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs", has a role to play in this.
LOL LT, no I think it is very true; most men are not philosophers but are preoccupied with very things I mentioned. Why men were philosophers throughout history might have more to do with inequality between sexes than with women ‘inability’ to comprehend things. Why do you think then that the biggest audiences for those very philosophers were not men but women? But today gap between male and female authors is narrowing to zero if it is there at all, testifying that women have exactly the same abilities.
However, at the end of my last comment I did admit it was a crude assessment, hence no need for me to further clarify explanation.
I think it is the feminization of the church that has driven the men away. Where's the heroism? The manly-man bonding team cheers? I don't understand these male needs, but I recognize they are different than my own. I note that the eight-to-twelve year old boys are bored silly by our Sunday School presentation. They spend most of their time bouncing off the walls or trying to annoy the teacher. Their male guardians spend most of their time telling the boys to sit still and listen. Sound familiar? Somehow, our presentation is not oriented to the male way of growing and learning.
I go to church for the sense of community, family, stability, and bonding. We have summer camps for the kiddies, bake sales, personal improvement classes, and gramma prayer teams. Sounds like, fun, eh, guys?
There's an entire organization founded to bring male significance back in to the church. www.promisekeepers.org
